Renard leads Tunisia’s national team in the 2026 World Cup after Lamouchi’s dismissal

Sources revealed to beIN Sports, the exclusive broadcaster of the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches in the United States, Canada and Mexico in the Middle East and North Africa, that the Tunisian Football Federation will sign a contract with French coach Hervé Renard.

The channel, citing its sources, indicated that the Tunisian Federation decided to dismiss technical director Sabri Lamouchi after the heavy loss to Sweden, 1-5, in the Carthage Eagles’ start at the 2026 World Cup, at dawn on Monday.

She also added that an agreement had been reached with Frenchman Renard to be the coach of the Tunisian national team in its next two matches in the group stage.

The Tunisian national team is awaiting two very strong tests against Japan and then the Netherlands on June 21 and 26, respectively, in the second and third rounds of Group Six.

Renard, 57 years old, previously served as technical director of the Moroccan national team during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and led the Saudi national team to a historic victory over Argentina in the last edition of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The French coach returned to lead Al-Akhdar for a second term in October 2024, but he was dismissed last April due to poor results in friendly matches in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, especially the 0-4 loss to Egypt in Jeddah last March.
