Hamdan bin Zayed visits the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi .. and praises its efforts in promoting the leadership of Abu Dhabi globally in the field of sustainability of fish fisheries

Abu Dhabi, July 13 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, representative of the ruler in the Al Dhafra region, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi, praised the great support and attention that the authority receives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, which enabled it to achieve influential results and great achievements through many projects and strategic initiatives in order Maintaining fish wealth and ensuring its sustainability for future generations.

This came during the visit of His Highness at the headquarters of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Sheikh Hazza bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Excellency Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, Managing Director of the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Nasser Muhammad Al Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Court of Representative of the Ruler in the Al -Dhafra region, His Excellency Hamad Issa Bou Shehab, Advisor to His Highness the Ruler’s representative in the Al -Dhafra region, and His Excellency Dr. General of the Environment Authority- Abu Dhabi and a number of officials.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised the pioneering achievement achieved by the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi in raising the sustainable fishing index from 8.9% in 2018 to reach 97.4% at the end of 2024, which puts Abu Dhabi in the first place globally in this indicator, where the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi took measures and measures to sustainable recovery of the fish stock, most notably the organization of fishing activities through the use of equipment Sustainable, regulating entertainment fishing activities, effective management of 6 naval reserves within the Zayed Natural Reserve Network in which fishing activities are organized, and the support of the sustainable aquatic farming sector in the emirate, in addition to enhancing fish stocks through coral cultivation and landing of synthetic corsets within the Abu Dhabi Culture Gardens Initiative.

The authority’s team also reviewed against His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Dalma Fish Project for Local Fish in the Sea Cages System, which is the first of its kind at the level of the Middle East in the field of employing artificial intelligence tools in the management and operations of the project.

The team gave an overview of the most important innovative initiatives adopted by the authority in most of its operations, including the application of artificial intelligence of fish, which is the first of its kind in the world, as it allows data collection in the field of fishing and monitoring by identifying their types and estimating their sizes and weights to support the management of fish fisheries and enhance the authority’s database.

His Highness concluded the visit by praising the efforts made by the authority to enhance its role in achieving environmental sustainability in the emirate through influential policies and continuous innovation, and cooperation with partners, fishermen and members of society, in order to achieve the emirate’s goals in sustaining the fish stock.
