Because of the heat .. 1180 people died in Spain within two months
The Spanish Ministry of Environment said yesterday that the high temperatures have caused the death of 1180 people in the country during the past two months, a sharp increase in the same period last year.
The ministry added in a statement that the data showed that the vast majority of those who died due to the heat waves exceeded 65 years and that more than half of them are women.
The most affected areas were Galissia, Laruika, Astorias, Kanabria, all of which are located in the northern half of the country.
The temperatures in Spain exceeded 40 degrees Celsius in the past weeks, which is witnessed by other countries in Western Europe.
The ministry quoted the data of the Carlos III Institute of Health that 1180 people died for heat reasons between May 16 and July 13, compared to 114 deaths recorded in the same period in 2024.
