A “million students” examination .. a national campaign reveals congenital heart disease

School departments in the various emirates of the state called on parents to participate, support and follow up on the national campaign for early detection of congenital heart diseases, which aim to examine a million students in public and private schools, in cooperation with the Emirates Cultural Heart Diseases Association and a number of relevant health and educational bodies.
According to the generalization of schools to “parents” and was seen by “Emirates Today”, the campaign aims to early detecting congenital heart distortions in children through the implementation of accurate medical examinations inside schools, as well as raising societal awareness of the dangers of these diseases and the importance of early diagnosis in saving lives and improving the quality of life for children with injured.
Schools emphasized that this campaign represents a golden opportunity for parents to discover any health problems among their children early, without bearing any financial burdens.
Schools called on parents to encourage their children to conduct examinations without hesitation, and to contribute to spreading awareness among members of society of the importance of participating in this national initiative. The Emirates Cardiac Diseases Association also opened the door for those wishing to support the campaign through the financial donations that are devoted to covering the costs of tests and treatment, noting that the association’s website can be visited to obtain more detailed information on how to participate.
According to the details of the campaign, the tests included include a comprehensive group that includes: measuring vital signs, a clinical examination by a pediatrician, electrocardiogram, and sonar examination (Eco). These examinations are performed completely free of charge within the school, according to a schedule organized by each school administration in coordination with health authorities.
Schools reported that congenital heart disease is one of the most common birth defects among newborns, and it is also the first cause of childhood mortality under the age of a year. That is why the organizers stress the importance of this type of campaigns, because of its pivotal role in prevention, early medical intervention, and saving children’s lives through immediate and appropriate treatment plans.
The campaign also highlights the human dimension by providing psychological and social support to families whose children suffer from congenital heart diseases, which enhances family cohesion and gives them confidence in the state’s health and educational care system.
