Zayed University organizes the final qualifiers for the “Chinese Language Proficiency 2026” competition

Zayed University, on its campus in Dubai, organized the regional finals for the UAE for the “China Bridge” competition for Chinese language proficiency for the year 2026, which is designated for primary and middle school students and university students, in a step that reflects the university’s position as a center for international cultural and educational exchange, and the promotion of cultural communication between the UAE and the People’s Republic of China.
The competition was organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the UAE and the Confucius Institute at Zayed University, under the umbrella of the university’s Institute of Professional and Continuing Education.
The competition is one of the largest events specialized in teaching the Chinese language in the country, and annually attracts between 500 and 600 students from various educational institutions.
The competitions included three main categories, including primary, middle and university students, and the participants underwent linguistic, cultural and performance tests and performances that demonstrated an advanced level of linguistic proficiency and creative abilities.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the country, Zeng Jixin, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, or Buqian, and the project director of the Chinese language expansion program in the UAE, Fatima Ahmed Abdullah Al Bastaki, along with representatives of the Chinese embassy, parents, members of the teaching and administrative bodies, and strategic partners.
Zeng Jixin stressed that the “China Bridge” competition represents a platform to enhance understanding between cultures and consolidate the growing friendship between the UAE and China, while Zayed University’s Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Michael Allen, pointed out that the university’s hosting of the competition embodies its commitment to enhancing language education and cultural exchange and supporting students’ openness to different civilizations.
Mansour Ahmed Hazza Al Shamsi won first place in the primary stage category, and Khadija Sultan Al Khaizari won first place in the intermediate stage category, while Heba Muhammad Ahmed, Amna Ibrahim Al Obaidari, and Hazza Sultan Al Mazrouei won first place in the university category in recognition of their excellence in performance and creativity.
