UAE: 17.4 billion dirhams in financial surpluses over last year

The Federal National Council praised the strength of the national economy and the strength of the state’s public finances, stressing that the results of the federation’s unified final account for the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2025 reflect the success of government policies in enhancing financial sustainability, developing internal revenues, and achieving financial surpluses that support future readiness and sustainable development, noting that the financial surplus amounted to 17.4 billion dirhams.

This came in accordance with the report of the Financial, Economic and Industrial Affairs Committee regarding a draft federal law to approve the unified final account of the federation (consolidated financial statements) for the year 2025, which showed strong financial indicators that enhance the strength of the state’s financial position and its ability to continue implementing its development plans, indicating that the scope of the consolidated financial statements included 67 federal entities, which reflects the comprehensiveness and accuracy of the financial indicators that were relied upon in evaluating the financial performance of the federal government.

The report indicated that the financial results confirm the strength of public finances and the sustainability of the state’s financial position, as cash liquidity amounted to about 125.9 billion dirhams, while net profits reached 77.5 billion dirhams, and net assets recorded 429 billion dirhams, while the financial surplus reached 17.4 billion dirhams, which reflects the efficiency of financial management and the continued achievement of positive results that support national development plans.

The committee stressed that one of the most prominent indicators that enhance financial sustainability is the growing role of self-revenue and the diversity of its sources, which limits reliance on a single source of revenue and enhances the flexibility of the national economy in the face of global economic changes, noting at the same time that achieving financial surpluses contributed to supporting future readiness and providing the necessary resources to implement strategic programs and projects.

The report pointed out the positive impact of government spending in enhancing national preparedness in its various aspects, as it contributed to supporting financial preparedness, enhancing the capabilities of the health and education sectors, in addition to developing the protection and social support system, which is reflected in the quality of life of citizens and residents.

Within the framework of future strategic directions, the report praised the development of an integrated national health insurance system as an important step towards enhancing the sustainability of health services and raising the efficiency and readiness of the national health system to face future challenges and requirements.

Priorities

The report also identified a number of national priorities included in the final account, which had an impact on maximizing government spending during the coming years, by focusing on measuring the actual impact of government programs and projects on quality of life, ensuring the best development return from available financial resources.

These priorities included enhancing investment in the education and vocational rehabilitation sector, developing specialized health services, and supporting food and water security systems, in addition to continuing the implementation of housing and infrastructure development programs, in line with comprehensive development goals and enhancing the UAE’s competitiveness and leadership at the regional and global levels.

The report confirmed that the financial indicators achieved during the year 2025 reflect a government approach based on strategic planning and sound financial management, which establishes the foundations of economic sustainability and enhances the country’s ability to continue the development process and achieve the goals of the UAE’s future vision.
