56 Creative Harm from the Palm trunk at the Liwa Wet Festival

Abu Dhabi, July 17 / WAM / The competitions area of the Liwa Wet Festival is adorned with 56 creative sters from the palm tree, as part of a distinguished exhibition that includes the works participating in the “Creativity of the Palm Trunk” competition launched by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority in the festival competitions in its 21st session, which continues its activities until July 27 in the city of Liwa in the Al Dhafra region.

The new creative competition seeks to encourage the recycling of the palm tree to produce artistic pieces that achieve a sustainable value that brings together the artistic and environmental aspects in the context of celebrating the palm, in a manner consistent with the nature of the festival that is held in conjunction with the wet dementia season in the UAE, and aims to highlight the status of the palm tree and its fruits in the Emirati society, as it is one of the components of the national identity, in addition to contributing to the sustainability of the heritage sector And agricultural.

The creative figures offered include artifacts carved on palm trunks manually and using simple tools, and artworks are inspired by the Emirati heritage rich in its distinguished elements, and the surrounding environment from modern or old buildings, forts or castles located in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi or in any region of the state.

The works participating in the competition were distinguished by the diversity of sculptures to include heritage buildings and modern monuments in the United Arab Emirates, while others were carved by heritage products from the local environment, as the creative figures attracted the festival visitors because of the artistic, heritage and environmental value.

The Organizing Committee of the Liwa Festival for Wet Festival explained that the arbitration of advanced works for competition will be according to a number of criteria that include the aesthetic form of the piece and the consistency of parts in terms of size, and to show details through the depth of sculpture and its quality, and the link of the sculpture with the Emirati heritage and the representation of topics from the Emirati environment, the quality of the material used in terms of the hardness of the trunk and its free from insect and fungal injuries and the complete dryness of the piece, While the results will be announced on the closing day of the festival.
