Minister of Culture: Achievement of Al -Faya is a fruit of constructive cooperation between the national bodies

Abu Dhabi, July 17 / WAM / The National Committee of the United Arab Emirates for Education, Culture and Science of the Ministry of Culture and the UNESCO delegate to the UNESCO is being made in cooperation with the national heritage parties to continue the distinguished achievements of the state at the global level in preserving cultural heritage.

The historical achievement achieved by the UAE came with the approval of the World Heritage Committee during its 47th session in Paris as a collective decision to include “Al -Faya” in the Emirate of Sharjah on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a result of these tireless efforts in cooperation with the Sharjah Authority for Antiquities and the Executive Office of Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi.

His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Culture, Chairman of the National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, expressed his pride and pride in this historical achievement, pointing out that it came as a fruit of constructive cooperation between the national bodies concerned with heritage and scientific and cultural research institutions, reflecting the strategic vision of the state in making heritage an active element in the national identity and global civilizational dialogue.

His Excellency said: “The exceptional global value enjoyed by the” Al -Faya “website lies in being a living and extended record of one of the oldest forms of human settlement in desert environments, and provides rare and important evidence of man’s ability to adapt and innovate in the face of natural challenges, and this makes its inclusion not only an Emirati achievement but also a knowledge contribution to all humanity in understanding the development of human societies.”

His Excellency stressed in this regard the continuation of work to enhance the presence of cultural and natural sites in the UAE on the map of World Heritage, and support national efforts in documentation, qualification, and protect historical memory, in a way that establishes the Emirates site as an influential center in protecting world heritage and setting it for future generations.

The “Al -Faya” website, which is located in the central region of the Emirate of Sharjah, represents a live testimony of the first person’s ability to stay and adapt to harsh desert environments, and embraces the oldest record of the human presence in the Arabian Peninsula, dating back to more than 210,000 years, which gives him exceptional value at the global level in the areas of archeology and anthropology.

The discoveries had shown that Al -Fayy was not only a transient passage of migration, but rather a frequent human settlement destination during the appropriate climatic periods, thanks to the availability of water from springs and valleys and the abundance of the chil for the manufacture of tools and natural shelter in the mountains, which made the site an incubating environment for human stability in prehistoric times.

And the “Al -Faya” website gained an exceptional global value through these unique aspects of discoveries that confirmed the importance of the site and its role in providing a rare and integrated record about the survival of man and overcoming the climatic and environmental challenges he faced.

It is worth noting that the UAE has developed a comprehensive management plan to protect the “Al -Fayya” site and will direct efforts to preserve the site, conduct research and organize the movement of visitors in it from 2024 to 2030, and this plan is in line with the standards of UNESCO World Heritage sites and ensures that the site is preserved with continued exploration, exploration, scientific and educational research.
