The French Prime Minister “Yanour” to pass the budget plan

French Prime Minister Francois Bayro, as if he was signed by a political execution when he told the French this week that he would deprive them of their holidays, freeze their social pensions, and reduce billions of dollars from their health care.

At the appropriate time, both the extreme right -wing national gathering, led by Marine Le Pen and the militant left -wing “France” of Jean -Luke Milanchon, announced that it was time to bring down Bayro, because of his plan to reduce the budget by 43.8 billion euros, but over time, it turned out that there is a strategy followed by the Prime Minister, the veteran middle politician.

Bayro is taking a bold position by presenting an editorial with a high ceiling, through which he hopes to negotiate an agreement on the budget in the fall.

It is ultimately warning that Paris is facing a financial collapse similar to Greece, years ago, unless the parties can arbitrate the mind and balance the accounts.

Political accounts

In essence, Bayro is conducting important political accounts regarding its opponents, including the Leban National Rally Party, and with Le Pen as looking for the presidency in 2027, the right -wing extremist party may now be more frequent in being seen as “sabotage”, rather than being seen as a solid political force ready to work for the national interest.

While many in the Le Pen party want to impose new elections, Bayro estimates that it will eventually retreat because it herself will not be able to run for the position because of its conviction of fraud.

The French Prime Minister’s speech on the budget included pressure papers for talks with parties of various political spectrums.

The legislators will not officially discuss the proposals until after the summer vacation, when the government will need an implicit support from an at least one opposition group to pass the budget bill, and this leaves room for Bayro to urge the main parties to support it.

A shocking suggestion

And if there is a declaration that raised more anger than others, it is Bayro’s plan to cancel two holidays, (perhaps “Easter” and “Victory Day”) on the eighth of May, and this proposal was shocked until his camp, and some opposition leaders realized that Bayro is likely trying to deceive them.

The leader of the Green Party, Marine Tondelier, was initially questioned in Bayro’s decision to cancel the May 8th holiday, but later stated to the LCE news network as “a trap and a misleading trick”, and indicated that Bayro might change its course of bargaining on the budget.

Meanwhile, the suspended French parliament, which erupted from the early elections of last year, suffers a sharp division, and is divided into a rough manner into three blocks, which is the extreme right, a mid -bloc of President Emmanuel Macron, and the left mass.

None of them has a parliamentary majority, which means that the two extremist parties need a bloc against the government to topple it, and Michelle Barnier, the predecessor of Bayro, without success, tried to negotiate with the national gathering on his government’s survival.

While Bayro chose a different strategy and concluded a temporary agreement last winter, with the socialists (the most moderate group in the left coalition), to maintain the survival of his government and pass the budget this year.

It seems that the government is pursuing the same strategy this time, as Economy Minister Eric Lombard told Bloomberg that reaching an agreement with the socialists “may be more likely.”

The socialist dilemma

But the main question is: To what direction will the socialists take their position? Of course, they strongly criticized the Bayro offer for a two -hour austerity budget, describing it as “unfair”, “brutal” and “unacceptable”, and the party’s parliamentary bloc said: “In the current situation, the government’s rejection is the only perspective.”

This is strong, but the Socialists, clearly, refrained from joining the other French leftist forces: the Green Party, the parents of France, and the Communist Party, in calling for the resignation of Payro immediately.

Since the appointment of Payro, last year, the party led by former President, Francois Hollande, swinging between fierce opposition and a stalled settlement. This time the matter is not different: harsh words, but without a decisive break.

“We may eventually reach an agreement not to vote on the proposal to block confidence, but in order for this to happen, the government will need to reformulate its proposal significantly.”

Moderate path

After 10 years of the electoral catastrophe, the Socialists have made their way to restore their position, defying the hegemony built by the left -wing “France” party, led by Milanchon, during the past decade.

But the Socialist Party is now strongly divided, and about half of it wants to follow a moderate path, while the rest seeks to agree with the broader left (but the most radical).

And if Bayro is forced to step down, Macron may call for early elections, which reopens a sharp internal discussion about the potential alliances in the left, and it is not clear how important the center’s left is to return to the course of the election campaigns without raising their internal crack first.

The leader of the Socialist Group, Boris Valo, hinted that there is room to reach a negotiating settlement, saying that his party would provide an alternative plan before discussing the budget in Parliament.

He wrote on the X platform: “There is no one path,” and former Prime Minister Edward Philip, who announced his candidacy for the upcoming presidential elections, was one of the most prominent votes criticized from the center -right camp, and Philip told the newspaper “Lubarisian”: “It is an emergency plan, but it also has its limits.” About «Politico»

Acting quietly

The French Prime Minister, Francois Bayro, acknowledged when he presented his strict plan, that he is not sure of his ability to rely on his allies in the coalition, which represents a great risk, but his allies were the only ones who have not yet criticized the plan, because they knew that the constructive situation may gain concessions during the current talks.

The right -wing Republican Party, part of the Bayro coalition, acknowledged some of the advantages of its plan, especially with regard to the reduction of spending.

On Wednesday, the leader of the Republican Party bloc in Parliament, Laurent Waki, admitted that the proposed budget “has the advantage of searching for solutions”, although it is still possible to “correct and improve it.”

A similar message was issued by President Emmanuel Macron camp, which supports the plan as a whole, but also plans to suggest some amendments. During the cabinet meeting last weekend, Macron praised the Bayro step “courage, bold and clear”, in the words of government spokeswoman Sophie Primas.
