Abu Dhabi airports receive 15.8 million passengers during the first half

Abu Dhabi, July 21 / WAM / During the first half of 2025, Abu Dhabi airports received more than 15.8 million passengers, a noticeable increase of 13.1%, compared to the same period last year 2024.
Zayed International Airport played a pivotal role in this growth, as the number of passengers has reached 15.5 million passengers until the end of June of this year, which represents an increase of 13.2% on an annual basis.
The achieved increase in aviation movement led to the support of this positive performance, as 133 thousand and 533 flights were recorded through the five airports in the first half of the year, which represents an increase of 9.2% over the same period last year, and Zayed International Airport alone recorded 93,858 airlines, an increase of 11.4% compared to 84 thousand and 286 flights in the first half 2024.
The expansion of the global destination network is an essential part of the growth strategy of Abu Dhabi airports; Where 16 new destinations were added in the same period, in addition to attracting a number of new airlines, including East China Airlines, which travel to Shanghai four times a week and the daily operation will start in September, and “Cyclal Air” with six flights per week, and “Fly Sham” lines to Damascus, and the Indian company “Indian” has strengthened its presence at Zayed International Airport, by launching flights to both Madorai Popanswar and Vicakatnam, to be the main portal of the company’s services in the Emirates.
Elena Surlini, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports, said that Abu Dhabi airports have achieved a positive positive growth over a period of 17 consecutive quarterly, which reflects the commitment of the team members and their continuous efforts, in addition to operational flexibility and providing an exceptional flight experience and attracting global investors.
She added that the air freight sector at Abu Dhabi airports also witnessed a remarkable growth that reflects the escalating role of the emirate in global trade, where 344,795 tons of goods were carried out during the first six months of the year 2025, and that the most prominent developments in this field include the joint agreement with the company “JDP-Jingdong Property”, the structure of the structure The Chinese e -commerce giant “JD.com”, which will witness the development of an advanced facility on an area of 70 thousand square meters, with the aim of meeting the increasing demand for e -commerce and specialized logistical shipping services in the Gulf countries and the Middle East and North Africa region.
The first half of the year 2025 witnessed the completion of the rehabilitation work of Sir Bani Yas Airport, confirming the company’s commitment to developing the aviation infrastructure in the country, and supporting environmental tourism in the Al Dhafra region, and Zayed Airport also obtained the classification of “Three Pearls” within the “sustainability” program in the construction phase, and was also chosen as “the best airport in the world to experience the coming passengers” for the third year in a row by the International Airport Council “ACI”, within Air Services Quality Awards “ASQ for 2024”.
Abu Dhabi airports continued to develop their partnership with the Canadian company “Bombardier” at Al -Bateen Airport for Private Aviation, with the establishment of a special maintenance and service facility, expected to enhance Abu Dhabi’s position as a pioneering regional center in the services of maintenance, repair and renewal of aircraft, and a memorandum of understanding has also been signed with the “Taqah Distribution” company to explore the application of future facilities technologies through the airport portfolio, in order to support the vision of Abu Dhabi airports towards Innovation and sustainable development.
