The activities of the sixth edition of the World Mixed Martial Arts Championships were launched yesterday, which is hosted by the Al Ain region for the first time in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center “ADNEC”, amid record participation of more than 1,000 players representing 60 countries.
The International Federation of Mixed Martial Arts will be held, in cooperation with the Emirates Jujitsu and Mixed Martial Arts, and will continue until July 27, where the opening day witnessed strong competitions and enthusiastic atmosphere, in a large crowd and the participation of a group of emerging talents.
The championship has witnessed, for the first time since its launch, the junior category D, 10-11 years), reflecting the UAE’s commitment to expanding the horizons of participation and building a strong base of promising talents at an early age.
Carith Brown, President of the International Federation of Mixed Martial Arts, expressed his pride in the continuation of the partnership with the Emirates Jujitsu Federation and mixed martial arts, stressing that this version of the tournament is the largest since its inception in 2019, and it is an ideal platform for promoting cultural exchange and consolidating positive values among young people from different countries of the world.
He pointed out that the UAE has become a role model in organizing and hosting world championships, thanks to its ambitious vision, its advanced infrastructure, and its pioneering role in enabling young people to achieve their sports aspirations.
For his part, His Excellency Mohammed bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Federation for Jujitsu and Mixed Martial Arts, Chairman of the Mixed Martial Arts Committee, expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to the wise leadership, appreciating the generous care of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for this global event, stressing that this support constitutes a strong incentive for the emerging generations to continue excellence and upgrading Wide prospects.
He said that the organization of the championship in the Al Ain region for the first time reflects the confidence of the international community with the organizational capabilities of the UAE, and confirms its success in strengthening its sports infrastructure and expanding the hosting map to include the various emirates of the country.
He stressed that the creation of the junior category D (10-11 years) this year adds a new dimension to the championship, and embodies a forward-looking vision that aims to embrace the talented since childhood, in a way that contributes to the manufacture of future champions and the consolidation of the culture of positive competition at an early age, and the preparation of a promising generation that possesses the necessary skills for active participation in world championships and representing his country efficiently in various international forums.
For his part, Kyle Wilson, coach of the United States, said that his team is participating in this tournament with about 30 athletes and sports, noting the level of distinguished organization.
