The extreme heat strikes Europe … and the records of deaths in Italy

5 deaths have been recorded in Italy in the southern “Bolia” region in the past few days, in light of the continued heat wave in the effect of parts of southern Europe.
By ten in the morning (0800 GMT), temperatures exceeded 30 degrees Celsius in Sicily.
Türkiye and Greece also witnessed a rise in temperatures, as the temperature in Istanbul Turkey reached 36 degrees Celsius, and on the Greek island of Lesbos to 38 degrees Celsius, at the same time.

Archaeological sites

In Athens, the “Acropolis” and other famous archaeological sites were closed during the afternoon, and workers in delivery services, building workers and agricultural workers were asked to stop work.
Greek law is obligated to take such measures to work in open places when temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius, as expected today and the coming days.

Standard temperatures

On the other hand, the island of “Hokkaido” north of Japan today recorded record temperatures in several regions, prompting local authorities to issue warnings of sunstrokes in various parts of the country.
Eight cities and one circle on the island registered the highest temperatures since 1977, the year in which official data began, according to the Japanese Meteorological Agency.
The temperature in the town of “Behewro” on Wednesday afternoon was 38.2 degrees Celsius, and an expert from the Japanese Meteorological Agency in “Hokkaido” indicated that the clear sky and hot air currents coming from China and the warm dry winds caused high temperatures on the island.
