Syria: More than 145,000 displaced people in As -Suwayda … and a second aid convoy arrives in the region

The Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent was coordinated to prepare the convoy, which also included supplies from the United Nations agencies. The OCHA office stated that it continues to engage with the authorities and partners to facilitate the transmission of a joint mission between the United Nations agencies to As -Suwayda as soon as the security conditions allow this, and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent fill out more aid.
Meanwhile, the UN office reported that the humanitarian needs in As -Suwayda are still high. Electricity, water, fuel and communications supplies have been greatly disrupted. Bakeries stopped working due to a lack of flour and fuel, and local markets face a significant lack of food.
A severe shortage of clean water, hygiene supplies, pads, and children’s supplies were also reported. Many displaced families lack basic necessities such as mattresses and blankets.
The OCHA office reported that more than 145,000 people were displaced due to hostilities in the Suwayda Governorate. This includes the people who fled inside the endosperm and to the governorates of Daraa and the neighboring Damascus countryside. The United Nations works with partners to provide a set of aid to people displaced to Daraa and Damascus countryside, including health and protection services, as well as food and water.
Mobile medical teams provided more than 3,500 consultations that included shock care, mother health, and psychological and social support. It received nearly 38,000 people. More than 1,000 groups containing non -foodstuffs were distributed in Daraa and Damascus countryside, and this helped more than 5,000 Syrians.
Joint missions are scheduled to be sent between United Nations agencies to evaluate needs and provide assistance to both the Daraa and Damascus countryside in the coming days.
