72 players from the Special Olympics participate in the first championship "Top Golf" For owners of determination
Abu Dhabi, July 26/ WAM/ 72 players and players from the Emirati Special Olympics participated today in the international virtual “Top Golf” championship, as part of a series of simultaneous competitions, in the first event of its kind dedicated to people of determination with mental and development challenges in the region.
The tournament was held with the participation of players from the UAE Special Olympics, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom, at the conclusion of the intensive national training program.
Players from various clubs and centers of determination participated in the national training program at the “Top Golf” stadiums in Dubai, and they underwent specialized training, and qualifiers that resulted in the selection of 72 players to participate in international virtual competitions.
Advanced technology was used by “Top Golf”, by providing horizontal and helicopters, which enabled more than 36 players to compete at the same time on each floor.
The players were chosen according to accurate criteria, which included regularity in the training program, the commitment with a attendance rate of no less than 80% of the classes, in addition to assessing time performance, in coordination with an international working group that included representatives of the International Special Olympics and the Special Olympics in Texas.
Talal Al -Hashemi, the National Director of the UAE Special Olympics, said that the tournament is a new chapter of international empowerment of players with determination, which paves the way for them to achieve their aspirations, indicating that it reflects the leadership of the UAE in integrating the owners of determination, especially those with mental and development challenges.
For his part, Mike Walton, General Manager of Top Golf Dubai, explained that participating in the tournament confirms that the golf sport is available to everyone, stressing the commitment of “Top Golf” to support the inclusive initiatives in cooperation with the partners, to ensure that a sporting experience of international quality.
