Despite Trump’s mediation … the renewed fighting between Thailand and Cambodia

Heavy weapons were renewed this morning, on the border area between Thailand and Cambodia, despite the calls of US President Donald Trump to a ceasefire, amid the two countries exchanged accusations of starting confrontations.
The Cambodian Ministry of Defense accused, according to the newspaper “Benn Benh Post”, the Thai forces of resuming the bombing and the use of artillery, drones and cluster ammunition, noting the targeting of historical temples.
On the other hand, the Bangkok Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted a military spokesman that Cambodia was the one who started shooting in the morning, targeting civilian homes in the border province of Surin, according to the Thai newspaper “Cawsod”.
This escalation comes a day after Trump’s announcement of the “Truth Social” platform that the leaders of the two countries agreed to the meeting immediately and quickly work to a ceasefire, threatening to stop commercial deals with any party to fight.
