المملكة: The adoption of 14 new condition for urban plans in Riyadh

The Riyadh Municipality, in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, approved a package of new controls and requirements for the adoption of urban plans in the capital.
Engineering offices and real estate developers are obligated to fulfill all elements of infrastructure and the general field before starting construction work, in a strategic move that reflects a fundamental shift in the methodology of urban planning, and establishes the basis of sustainability and quality of life in the city.

Controls of urban plans in Riyadh

The new requirements include the implementation of asphalt and paving work, street lighting, watering of water, sanitation, electricity, and phone networks.
In addition to completing torrential drainage networks, garden construction, afforestation work, providing public domain elements such as open spaces, street designations, road planning, and providing urban furniture to improve public places, according to the technical evidence approved by the Secretariat.

This trend comes within the efforts of the Riyadh Municipality to enhance pre -emptive development, and to avoid the repeated challenges that previous models were suffering from.

Raising the quality of urban plans in Riyadh

Among the most prominent of which are frequent drilling in the streets after construction, delay in delivering services, and the lack of completion of the elements of the urban environment in its early stages.
These controls would contribute to raising the quality of new plans, establishing integrated neighborhoods that meet the needs of the population, enhance the efficiency of land use, and support the increase in green areas, pedestrian paths and bikes.
This keeps pace with the goals of the Secretariat in the city’s humanity and achieve the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, and supports the position of the capital, a modern, flexible, and sustainable city.
