The launch of the second session of the Fujairah Award for Best Sustainable Mining Practices

Fujairah on August 6/ WAM/ The Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation announced the launch of the second edition of the “Fujairah Award for Sustainable Mining Practices”, which is the first of its kind in the region.

The award celebrates excellence in the mining sector, and honors innovative initiatives and responsible practices that achieve the balance between economic growth and environmental preservation, reflecting the emirate’s commitment to the approach of sustainable development and supports the state’s directions towards the green economy and the UAE vision 2031, in light of the wise directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Muhammad Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council of the Ruler of Fujairah, and with direct support from His Highness Sheikh Muhammad Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.
This came during the coordination meeting of the Prize Trustees Committee, which reviewed the latest preparations for the launch of the new session, including arbitration mechanisms, evaluation criteria, and regional and international media communication plans and promotion, ensuring the consistency of the award with the state’s goals in promoting sustainable vital sectors.

The award is one of the qualitative initiatives emanating from the ninth Fujairah International Mining Forum, which contributed a pivotal role in drawing the features of the future of the mining sector, by converting recommendations and outputs into executive programs that enhance leadership and responsibility, on top of which is this award, which has become a national model to be followed in stimulating institutional excellence.
His Excellency Eng. Mohamed Saif Al -Afkh, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, stressed that the award embodies the leadership’s tendencies in supporting innovation and sustaining resources, explaining that the award does not only honor excellence, but also celebrates the values established by the Fujairah government in sustaining resources and foreseeing the future.
He added that the Foundation aspires through this award to create a conscious and integrated, integrated system, which strengthens the role of Fujairah as a regional and international center for innovation in mining, and contributes to building a balanced green economic future, consistent with the principles of the Emirates Centennial 2071, the national sustainability agenda and the aspirations of the Emirate of Fujairah.
For his part, His Excellency Eng. Ali Qassem, Director General of the Fujairah Foundation for Natural Resources, stressed that the award comes within the framework of the Foundation’s strategy to enhance the sector’s competitiveness and keep pace with global transformations towards green development.

He said that the Foundation operates according to a comprehensive vision led by His Highness the Ruler of Fujairah and His Highness the Crown Prince, towards developing the mining system to be a renewed national tributary that supports sustainability and enhances the UAE’s competitiveness globally, pointing out that the Foundation seeks through the award to motivate actors in the mining sector to adopt best sustainable practices.
He explained that the door for participation will be opened from August 10 and will continue until October 10, 2025, which gives the participants two full months to submit their files through the approved channels.

He added that the second session of the award includes six main categories represented in the best mechanical facility in supporting the national economy, and the leading mining body in the field of social responsibility, as well as the best party in preserving geological heritage, as well as excellence and leadership in mining manufacturing industries and innovation in artificial intelligence applications and analysis of mining data and the best scientific research or applied study in the field of mining.
