المملكة: Launching an initiative to integrate 1.5 million volunteers in the efforts to combat trafficking with people

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Volunteer Association, Dr. Mashael Al -Osaimi, confirmed that the association is working to launch a national initiative to integrate volunteers of different groups and ages in society, which number approximately 1.5 million people as part of efforts to combat trafficking crimes.
She pointed to the existence of coordination and twinning with a number of concerned authorities, most notably the Prison Administration and the Human Rights Authority, to enhance this cooperation in an institutional manner.
This came during an awareness meeting hosted by the Chamber of Commerce in the region, in conjunction with the International Day to Combat this crime, and in the presence of representatives of all relevant government agencies.

Dr. Al -Osaimi indicated that there is a serious approach to a twinning contract and strategic partnerships to integrate volunteers from all age groups in this national issue.
She explained that the association is keen to cooperate and coordinate with all concerned authorities, noting that preliminary meetings with the Prison Administration and the Human Rights Authority with the aim of building a joint framework that guarantees the contribution of volunteers effectively to this initiative.
For its part, the director of the Human Rights Authority branch in the Eastern Region, Nawal Al -Bawardi, welcomed this partnership, stressing the importance of concerted institutional and societal efforts to confront this cross -border crime, pointing out that volunteer work represents a major complementary umbrella, and that there are strenuous efforts to expand the scope of cooperation to include all actors in this field.

The cross -border crime

The meeting, which was launched with an opening speech delivered by the director of the Human Rights Authority branch in the Eastern Region, Nawal Al -Bawardi, during which she stressed the importance of concerted institutional and societal efforts to confront this cross -border crime.
The meeting included a number of awareness -raising paragraphs and axes, the most prominent of which is the presentation of an educational film and the honor of the participants, then the specialized dialogue sessions, which discussed the first paper: the Kingdom’s efforts in combating trafficking crimes, presented by Nawal Al -Bawardi, and the second paper in which he reviewed the efforts of the Public Prosecution, delivered by the head of the Persons Trade Prosecution in the Eastern Region Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Nimer Al -Anzi, and the third paper. It reviewed the efforts of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, presented by Muhammad Al -Nimri.
The meeting concluded with an open discussion session, during which the challenges and possible solutions were reviewed to reduce these crimes, stressing the importance of continuing coordination between the relevant authorities, and intensifying awareness and media programs.
