"Shaheen team" Representing the UAE in the Monaco Rugby Sevens Championship

Dubai, 26 March / WAM / The Emirates Rugby Federation announced the participation of the “Shaheen” team, representing the Emirates, in the Monaco Rugby Sevens Championship, which begins on the first of next May, in its first appearance in this tournament, after previously achieving a distinguished achievement by winning the Malaysian and Portuguese championships.
The Monaco Championship is the team’s first foreign participation during the year 2026, as part of an ambitious preparatory program, as the team continues its international presence through a series of anticipated participations, most notably participation in the Asian Club Championship scheduled for Sri Lanka next July, in addition to its participation in the second edition of the UAE-Egyptian Super Cup for the 15-player category in Egypt, as well as participating in the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Championship competitions.
The team trains regularly on Mondays and Wednesdays at The Sevens stadiums, in addition to fitness training that takes place on the sands of the Dubai desert on Fridays, as part of raising physical and technical readiness, in parallel with its participation in the local league competitions, which are expected to conclude in mid-April.
The team’s roster witnessed the absence of national team captain Sakusa due to injury, while player Sultan Ahli was called to join training, to strengthen the team’s ranks before the upcoming matches.
The technical staff of the Shaheen team is led by coaches Khaldoun Malih and Youssef Shaker, who are working to prepare the team in the best possible way to achieve distinguished results in the upcoming foreign participations.
