Abu Dhabi Development Fund / a strategic partner in the comprehensive Arab development process

Abu Dhabi, August 11/ WAM/ The Abu Dhabi Development Fund continues to establish its position as one of the most prominent actors in supporting economic and social development efforts in the Arab countries, by financing strategic projects that contribute to stability, stimulating growth, and enhancing the quality of life, in a way that translates the UAE’s commitment to its brothers.

In recent years, the Fund’s activity witnessed an expansion in supporting the Arab countries, as it was able to translate this trend into concrete projects that have been implemented in a number of Arab countries, which focus on vital sectors related to the future of societies and their stability, such as health, energy and infrastructure, which makes every additional brick project in the course of comprehensive development.

The data issued by the annual report of 2024 shows the growing development impact of the Fund’s activity, as the value of cumulative development funds since its foundation until the end of last year amounted to about 216.5 billion dirhams, of which 107 countries benefited, and these funds included 157 billion dirhams, total accessible financing, and 57.6 billion dirhams total government grants, along with 1.9 billion dirhams of total. Direct contributions to strategic projects.

According to the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, in a special statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, the Fund managed during the year 2024 about six government grants to sisterly Arab countries, as the total value of the grants offered is approximately 810 million dirhams, from which the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Republic of Yemen, and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania benefited, where all grants were used in six Priority development projects for partner governments.

Jordan has received great support exceeding 452 million dirhams for three projects, which is the digital transformation program for health centers and support for the general budget and the reading skills development program, while grants provided to Morocco amounted to 129 million dirhams to expand the Wadi Akash – Ain Odeh road, and a grant for Yemen was provided with a value of 45 million dirhams for the solar energy project on Socotra Island, while the value of the Mauritanian grant amounted to 184 million dirhams for the College of Science Applied.

The Fund stressed that the Jordan Digital Health Center project, “The Virtual Hospital”, which was launched recently in Jordan within the digital transformation program, which is an advanced step towards updating the infrastructure of the health sector, aims to establish a unified digital system to link hospitals and health centers, in a way that enhances the efficiency of providing health care services.

He explained that the first stage included linking 5 hospitals located in the terminal areas and 3 health centers distributed over the various regions of the Kingdom, in a way that enhances the efficiency of the health system and speeds access to medical services, within the framework of joint cooperation between the UAE and Jordan to support comprehensive development using digital solutions.

In the same context, the Fund took over the management of the UAE’s grant within the Gulf Fund for Development Program, as the country has allocated from 2012 until 2024 grants to Jordan and Morocco at a value of 4.6 billion dirhams for each country, so that these grants contribute to the implementation of projects that affect the lives of citizens and support comprehensive development.

During the same period, a government grant was offered to the Kingdom of Bahrain worth 9.2 billion dirhams within the program of the development of the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, where grants also contributed to the development and establishment of strategic projects in various sectors.

During the current year 2025, the Fund continued to implement qualitative investment projects with economic returns in various Arab countries, the most prominent of which is the “Sofitel Legend Pyramids Giza” project in the Arab Republic of Egypt to support the tourism sector, and an integrated tourism investment project in the Sultanate of Oman, Salalah, in addition to financing the Bahrain Airport development project that won the Abdul Latif Youssef Al -Hamad Prize as the best development project in the Arab world for the year 2024.

The Fund in the United Republic of the United Republic contributed to the implementation of a solar power plant in support of the efforts to shift towards clean energy, while the Somalia land witnessed the implementation of an integrated residential project within the efforts to support the stability of societies and enhance the quality of life.

The Abu Dhabi Development Fund continues to perform its role as an effective development bridge that reflects the UAE’s commitment to spreading stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
