A complete interruption of electricity throughout Iraq

Sources in the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity said that Iraq was subjected to power outages in the central and southern regions today, Monday, after a power plant stopped in Anbar Governorate.

The sources added that the sudden stop of the Al -Hamidiya station led to a malfunction in the Iraqi Electricity Transmission Network.

The head of the Energy Committee in the Iraqi Parliament confirmed that the power outage did not affect the semi -independent Kurdistan region of Iraq, according to Reuters.

In a statement today, Monday, the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity announced the loss of the network to more than 6 thousand megawatts suddenly and exactly, which led to the acceleration of the rate of obstetric units, and thus its separation from work and the complete extinguishing of the system.

The ministry confirmed that it is working to restore separate units and the carrier lines to work gradually during the coming hours.

Iraq relies heavily on natural gas imports from Iran to generate energy.
