Baghdad and Damascus are looking to revive "Banias line" To export Iraqi oil

Baghdad, August 12 / WAM / Iraq and Syria agreed to study the possibility of restarting the Banias pipeline to export Iraqi oil through Syrian territory.

This agreement came during discussions that took place in Baghdad today between Hayyan Abdul -Ghani Al -Sawad, Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Iraqi Oil Minister, and Muhammad Bashir, the Syrian Minister of Energy, and resulted in a decision to form a committee from the two parties to study the state of the line and the possibility of resuming export through it, with a proposal to involve an international consultant to determine the validity of the tube and pumping systems during which the usefulness of rehabilitation.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Oil, reported by the Iraqi News Agency, Al -Sawad stated that Iraq has achieved great achievements in the areas of gas investment and oil refining, and seeks to increase export energies from the southern outlets, and the resumption of export from the Turkish pipeline through the port of Jihan, as well as studying export proposals through the Syrian Banias line and the Lebanese Tripoli line.
The Iraqi minister touched on the visa -modern tube line project, and said that it will be a capacity of 2,250 million barrels, and will secure the quantities of export through the Syrian line.
