"Emirates water and electricity" Announces the issuance of requests for submitting offers to develop a power plant in gas turbines

Abu Dhabi, August 14/ WAM/ The Emirates Water and Electricity Company announced the issuance of requests to submit offers for the Nouf Station development project, the largest independent station in the UAE, to generate electricity with gas turbines with a complex cycle, and is prepared to capture carbon, within the new Al -Nouf complex, the latest strategic location for the company dedicated to the energy sector in Abu Dhabi.
This station is designed to provide high efficiency, operational flexibility and low emissions, in a way that contributes to strengthening the UAE long -term plan to remove carbon.
The Al -Nouf Complex will contribute mainly to enhancing water and electricity security in the UAE, as its strategic coastal location can accommodate the techniques of generating energy cooled with sea water and desalination of water with reverse osmosis, and the collection has been designed to be expanded in the long run, and it is characterized by wide areas and advanced infrastructure to support multiple projects to generate electricity and desalination at the level of facilities in the future, which is The UAE water and electricity company’s commitment to developing integrated energy complexes in terms of performance, efficiency and environmental sustainability.
The company will lead the efforts of the strategic plan for the transmission of the energy sector in the UAE towards a carbon -free system, as the advanced and effective Nouf station will contribute to providing the transitional capacity necessary to support the integration of renewable energy on a large scale, and to provide more flexibility during the peak energy demand, and to play a major role in ensuring energy security in conjunction with the transformation witnessed by the energy sector in the country as a sector based on renewable energy And clean.
Like the independent product projects, this project is expected to contribute to achieving the goals of resettlement by enhancing the qualification of the people of the state to play vital roles in the sector, and support the goals of the job development program.
Ahmed Ali Al Shamsi, CEO of the Emirates Water and Electricity Company, said that the development of Al -Nouf Energy Station is one of the main pillars of the long -term water and electricity company strategy to provide a flexible, effective and carbon energy system.
He added that in the context of the company’s efforts to accelerate the integration of renewable and clean energy into the network, the advanced production capacity that works with natural gas will mainly contribute to ensuring the reliability of the system and preventing interruptions in the electrical current.
He explained that the strategic location of the Al -Nouf station and its highly efficient design would enhance its ability to meet the future demand, and support the state’s strategic initiative to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, in light of the aspiration to cooperate with the best developers qualified to proceed with the development of this vital project.
It is noteworthy that the Al -Nouf Station project will be implemented according to the model of a successful independent product in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, so that the developers enter a long -term purchase agreement with the Emirates Water and Electricity Company as the only buyer.
The project includes the development, financing, building, operation, maintenance, and ownership of a new station to generate electricity with gas turbines with a complex cycle, and the developer or coalition share will be 40% of the company with the specified purpose, while the Abu Dhabi government will indirectly own the remaining percentage.
It is expected to receive companies’ offers by the last quarter of this year 2025, with the station to start its operational operations in the third quarter of 2029, to produce about 3.3 gigawatts “frequency stream” of electricity through high -efficiency natural gas turbines technology.
The requests for submitting offers also provide detailed requirements and the proposed technical standards for the project to support companies and coalitions in preparing their offers, and taking into account the integration of artificial intelligence to improve the performance of the station if necessary, enhance the efficiency of operation, and future maintenance requirements, and it is also expected that this project will employ the latest technology, including digital twinning and advanced monitoring systems, to improve the performance of the system life cycle and its flexibility.
