"Abu Dhabi District" 43 thousand civilian marriages are recorded
Abu Dhabi, August 20 / WAM / The Judicial Department in Abu Dhabi revealed that more than 10 thousand civil marriage requests for foreigners before the Civil Family Court during the first half of this year 2025, an increase of about 20% compared to the same period last year, bringing the total number of civil marriage contracts registered to 43 thousand contracts, since the issuance of the civil marriage law and its effects in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi No. 14 of 2021.
His Excellency Counselor Youssef Saeed Al -Abri, Undersecretary of the Judicial Department, stressed that the increasing demand for civil marriage services for foreigners reflects the quality of the unique service in the Middle East, in light of the interest in providing innovative judicial services that keep pace with the development witnessed by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in various fields, in a way that enhances its competitiveness globally.
Al -Abri pointed out that the establishment of the first civil status court for foreigners at the region level, formed a qualitative shift that made Abu Dhabi a favorite destination for those wishing to benefit from the civil marriage service, especially with the adoption of the Arabic and English languages in providing services and procedures, which contributed to facilitating legal transactions for non -Arabic speakers.
The statistical report of the Civil Family Court showed that the number of registered civil marriage contracts witnessed remarkable growth in less than three years, as it increased from about 5400 contracts in 2022 to more than 16 thousand contracts in 2024, and the registration of 10 thousand contracts during the first half of 2025 shows.
The remarkable growth in civil marriage contracts highlights the success of Abu Dhabi in consolidating a modern legislative environment that meets family needs, and supports the economic trends of the emirate by enhancing its components as an incubator for tolerance and cultural diversity, and attractive to competencies and skills of different nationalities.
