Opening the door for candidacy for the Sharjah Prize for Translation "Tarjan 2025"

Sharjah, on August 25 / WAM / The Sharjah Book Authority announced the opening of the nomination for the eighth session of the Sharjah Translation Prize “Tarjman”, which aims to enhance the presence of Arab literature in the global cultural scene and encourage foreign publishing houses to translate the masterpieces of creativity and Arab thought into other languages in a way that contributes to building cultural and knowledge bridges between peoples.

The total value of the award is 1.4 million dirhams, and it is granted for the best foreign translation of one of the Arabic works to reflect the commitment of the “Sharjah Book Authority” and the “Sharjah International Book Fair” to consolidate the position of translation as a way to enhance human dialogue, civilized communication and transfer Arab knowledge and creativity to the world.

The authority continues to receive candidacy requests until September 15th and announce the names of the winners during the opening ceremony of the 44th session of the “Sharjah International Book Fair” next November, and allows those interested in the opportunity to identify the standards of candidacy through the official website of the exhibition: https://www.sibf.com/ar/awards?awardid=17.

His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakad Al -Amiri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, emphasized that the Sharjah Translation Award “Tarjman” reflects the commitment of the authority to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and the directives of Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of the Sharjah Book Authority towards promoting the presence of Arabic literature and the civilizational project of the emirate on the global scene.

The award celebrates all parties contributing to the translation process and honors them, starting with the translator, which receives 100 thousand dirhams and the Arab Publishing House, which issued the original work, which receives 30% of the remaining amount and ends with the foreign publishing house that receives 70% of the remaining prize value.
