Dubai Municipality obtains a certificate of international conformity with the sexual equality and empowerment of women (ISO 53800)

Dubai Municipality announced that it has obtained a certificate of international conformity with the global standard of gender equality and women’s empowerment (ISO 53800), to become the first party in the world to obtain this accreditation from Global TUV (GUV), which is the world leader in the fields of scrutiny and examination and granting certificates of conformity with international specifications, in conjunction with the country’s celebrations of Emirati Women’s Day, which falls on August 28 of each year, confirming the position Women and their pivotal role in the development process, and an embodiment of empowerment policies led by the UAE and the Emirate of Dubai through a future vision based on justice, efficiency and equal opportunities.

The achievement of this achievement also coincides with the “Year of Society” in the UAE, to enhance the values ​​of social justice, the effective societal participation of all groups of society, and the leading efforts supported by the rational leadership to empower women and gender equality through a clear institutional and strategic vision that confirms the role of women as a basic pillar of sustainable development and societal cohesion.

Engineer Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality said: “This is happy with this global achievement that confirms the leadership of the UAE and the Emirate of Dubai in the field of gender equality and women’s empowerment, which was achieved thanks to the directives of the wise leadership, to establish the values ​​of equality and empowerment as a community and institutional culture based on equal and justice.”

He added: “We are proud of the Dubai Municipality by obtaining this recognition, which highlights our endeavors in empowering women and supporting them to achieve more achievements in an integration of empowerment programs, and the national policy for empowering Emirati women 2023-2031. It also expresses our firm commitment to providing a fair work environment that provides efficiency and merit without discrimination, and adopts the best global standards for achieving gender balance and empowering Emirati women, In confirmation of the Dubai approach and its impact as a world inspiring city in converting principles into practices with a tangible impact.

For his part, Eng. Nasser Hamad Bushehab, Executive Director of the Planning and Governance Sector in Dubai Municipality, affirmed that this achievement represents an important step in enhancing the positive work environment, and said: “We are proud that the Dubai Municipality will be the first world authority to obtain a certificate of conformity with the international standard ISO 53800, which enhances our career in building a comprehensive work environment, supports equality and enables women, and provides opportunities for vocational development without employees without Distinguishing and in balance between the requirements of personal life and work obligations. “

The UAE has achieved qualitative transfers that have established its global position in adopting gender balance policies and empowering women in the country, as it came in the seventh place globally and the first regionally in the gender equality index in the Human Development Report issued by the United Nations Development Program for the year 2024. A certificate of conformity with the international standard “ISO 53800” is issued by the German GTUV company in the fields of scrutiny, examination and granting of conformity certificates, and has long experience in the global markets and the Arab Gulf region, and holds a variety of credits from the specifications and standards of the most important of them; Emirates International Accreditation Center, the German Accreditation Authority, and the American Accreditation Authority. The standard is the first global standard concerned with providing an integrated framework to enhance gender equality and empower women in work environments, as it covers several axes, including internal policies, equal opportunities, leadership empowerment, wage balance, and fair organizational and administrative practices.
