Appointment of a new executive director of the United Nations Population Fund

Keita, Natalia Caeim, left Panama, who Guterres expressed his deep gratitude for her dedicated service and her distinguished commitment to the organization. This came in a statement issued by the office of a spokesman for the Secretary -General.

According to the statement, Keita is currently the Acting CEO of the United Nations Population Fund. She held the position of Deputy Executive Director for Program Affairs in the Fund since 2020, carrying with her the experience of more than three decades in the fields of international development and public service.

Her career includes the position of African Minister of Cooperation and Integration in the Republic of Guinea, as well as her extensive experience at the United Nations.

Keita held high leadership positions at the United Nations Population Fund, including the position of the representative of the Fund in Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The United Nations residing coordinator also worked in Mauritania, Banin and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Kita began her career in the United Nations in 1990 with the United Nations Development Program.

Throughout her career, Keita worked extensively to empower women and youth, comprehensive growth, demographic issues, and sustainable human development. It focused on addressing sexual and reproductive health issues, in addition to ending gender -based violence in humanitarian environments.

Keita holds a doctorate in law, higher degrees in the international economy and the law of development and international relations from the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbon in France. It is fluent in English, French, Italian, Maliki, Pambara and Soso, as well as knowing the language of Fulani.
