Erdogan and Shi Jinping are looking into Shanghai, the files of Gaza, Ukraine and Syria and the promotion of trade

Tianjin, August 31 / WAM / Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chinese Xi Jinping discussed today on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held on September 1 and 2 in China, Tianjin, developments in the Gaza Strip, the Russian -Ukrainian war, and a number of issues of common concern, including common steps aimed at the renaissance of Syria.
A statement of the Communication Department in the Turkish Presidency stated that President Erdogan assured his Chinese counterpart the importance of taking joint steps to align the “Middle Corridor” initiative with the “Belt and Road” initiative.
The Turkish President stressed the need to support bilateral trade with investments in order to make it balanced and sustainable, noting that the fields of digital technology, energy, health and tourism have great potential to develop Turkish -Chinese relations.
It is worth noting that “Shanghai Cooperation” is an international political, economic and security organization, founded in 2001 in the Chinese city of Shanghai by the leaders of six countries: China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzia, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
In 2017, it joined its membership in India and Pakistan, and Iran also obtained full membership in July 2023, while Afghanistan and Mongolia have a observer.
The organization also includes 14 countries as “dialogue partners”: the Emirates, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bahrain, Egypt, Cambodia, Qatar, Kuwait, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka.
