The example of France .. Belgium intends to recognize the State of Palestine

Belgian Foreign Minister Maxim Brevo announced today that his country will recognize the State of Palestine during the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September, also indicating Brussels’s intention to impose “strict sanctions” on Israel.

“Belgium will recognize the State of Palestine during the United Nations General Assembly meetings! There are strict sanctions on the Israeli government. ”

French President Emmanuel Macron announced, previously, that his country will recognize the State of Palestine during the General Assembly meetings that will be held from 9 to 23 September. Sincerely, more than 12 Western countries announced that they would follow the example of France.

In his publication, the minister said: “Given the ongoing human tragedy in Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip, and in the face of the violence practiced by Israel in a violation of international law (…) Belgium was forced to make firm decisions to increase pressure on the Israeli government and the Palestinian Hamas (movement) terrorists, according to what was reported by the French Press Agency.

He added that “Belgium will join the signed countries on the New York Declaration, paving the way for a two -state solution, and thus recognition of them.”

Canada and Australia have previously announced their intention to recognize the State of Palestine, while Britain announced that it would do so if Israel does not agree to a ceasefire in Gaza.
