The death of a person and the injury of two in the collision of 3 vehicles on Emirates Street

One person died and two others were injured in a collision between three vehicles last Monday evening on Emirates Street after the Dubai Club bridge towards Sharjah, as a result of the lack of commitment to one of the drivers to leave a sufficient safety distance.

The Director of the General Traffic Department in Dubai Police, Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, said that the accident embodies the danger of ignoring the safety distance between vehicles, stressing that such a violation is one of the main causes of severe and deadly accidents on highways.

He explained that the command and control room received a report of the accident at 13:30 pm, as preliminary investigations showed that the driver of one of the vehicles did not leave a sufficient safety distance behind the vehicle in front of him, which led to the collision, the death of a person at the site of the accident, and the injury of two other people with injuries ranging from medium and simple, and transferred to the hospital for treatment.

Brigadier Ibn Suwaidan indicated that the traffic accident expert teams moved immediately to the accident site, and started the inspection and collected technical evidence to determine the exact causes, while traffic patrols secured the site and organized traffic to facilitate the arrival of ambulances, and the field teams also removed the damaged vehicles as soon as possible to avoid obstruction of traffic.

Bin Suwaidan called on drivers to adhere to the rules of safety and preventive leadership, stressing that the failure to leave the safety distance exposes the drivers and road users at risk, and is one of the most violations that cause accidents in the Emirate of Dubai.

He indicated that Dubai Police is implementing field and electronic awareness programs throughout the year, to highlight the violations affecting traffic safety, on top of which is excessive speed, preoccupation with a non -road, and not to leave the distance sufficient, indicating that the Federal Traffic and Traffic Law provides for a violation of not leaving the safety distance with a fine of 400 dirhams, and 4 traffic points recorded on the violating driver.
