Sharjah, on September 3 / WAM / The Sharjah Museums Authority organized a dialogue session entitled “Voice of the Yamal” at the Sharjah Marine Museum, as part of its continuous efforts to preserve the Emirati marine heritage, and highlighting the popular arts associated with the lives of divers and sailors in the past.
The session was presented by Saeed bin III, Chairman of the UAE Dive Board of Directors, during which Ibrahim Jumaa, Heritage Adviser at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Center for Heritage Revival, and Ali Khamis Al -Ash, an expert in artistic heritage at the Sharjah Heritage Institute, in the presence of a group of researchers, artists and interested in marine heritage.
Samira Al -Ghais, Secretary of the Sharjah Maritime Museum, stressed that the session aims to highlight marine arts as an authentic element in the Emirati identity, noting that the Yamal voice session comes within the framework of the museum’s role as a live center to preserve the marine heritage and present it to new generations, not only as material exhibits, but as a living cultural experience that embodies the details of the life of parents and grandparents.
Our message is that marine singing is not just an art, but rather a memory and identity, and the Sharjah Museums Authority plays a major role in preserving this heritage by organizing live events that revive heritage elements and draw them from the public.
