Thanks to his strategy in sustainable hunting and his civilizational vision to protect the environment and heritage, Sheikh Zayed drew the features of efforts to record falconry within the list of infinite cultural heritage in UNESCO, which included the protection of this heritage for future generations.
He also devoted his efforts to launch sustainable fishing programs, establishing natural reserves, and hawks and pulgery projects, as well as establishing specialized environmental bodies and institutions, and issuing laws and legislations that regulate environmental work at the state level, and at the same time ensure communication with similar international bodies.
The founding leader put his experience in the field of falconry in his book “Falcon Falcon”, which was issued in 1976, which is an important reference in this ancient sport, but perhaps the widest and most accurate references, as his information was based on practice and experience.
The International Friendship Conference of Bizra, which the late Sheikh Zayed, “may God rest his soul”, directed his organization in Abu Dhabi in 1976, the first unprecedented global initiatives, and paved the way towards international cooperation to protect falconry as a human heritage, and Sheikh Zayed was the first to link the falconry and sustainability, stressing that hunting should be responsible, so he prevented overfishing, and launched projects for the multiplication of Houbara Natural to protect falcons and their environments, as he directed the establishment of the Emirates Falcon Club to be a pioneering destination in the preservation of falconry.
The conference gathered at the time, for the first time, between the Arabian Peninsula and North America falconers, Europe and the Far East, and it was a real starting point for the strategy that Sheikh Zayed “” may God rest his soul “set to mobilize the falconers to be at the forefront of the preservation efforts.
In the field of protecting falcons and their wives, Sheikh Zayed was the first to realize the risks facing the types of birds, and he established several projects to protect the endangered species, including Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital, and in the Kingdom of Morocco in 1995 the Emirates Center for the Development of Wildlife to Press Houbara and launch them in the wilderness, and the UAE also supported the establishment of the Global Bloves Authority in Pakistan.
The UAE Saqari Club was also declared in 2001, and the first session of the Abu Dhabi Fishing and Equestrian Exhibition was launched in 2003, where the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” directed that the exhibition be at a global level.
“Al -Saqqar” magazine, issued by the Emirates Falcon Club, celebrated Sheikh Zayed in its last issue in conjunction with the twenty -second session of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Show, and the number file entitled: “Sheikh Zayed: Al -Saqqar who preserved the environment and taught the world’s generations the art of fishing and desert literature”, and the file highlighted the leadership role of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest.” Cultural heritage of falconry and protecting this authentic art.
