The Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi has identified six types of abuse that children can be exposed during their exercise, noting that it has set a set of principles and mechanisms that guarantee the application of the highest protection standards to enhance awareness and community participation in protecting children, by enabling sports authorities, parents and workers in sports authorities to assume their responsibilities effectively.

The department explained, in the policy of protecting the child in the sports authorities, which it recently launched, that the abuses that children in sports can be exposed to include physical abuse, sexual abuse, psychological abuse, neglect, and exploitation, in addition to discrimination, noting that it is completely prohibited in the sports authorities to cause physical harm and harm to the child, failure or unwillingness to prevent the physical damage of the child, or for the child’s coercion or attraction or attraction It is involved in participating in any sexual behavior, whether it is aware or not, and also includes that practices do not involve any physical contact, or deal in a manner that causes the child’s psyche, or neglecting the child’s care, or exploiting him in carrying out some of the profitable works or activities, or repeated assault on children, whether physical, social or verbal, in addition to the unfair or incompatible dealing with prior rulings for children and their families.

She pointed out that the new policy aims to ensure the implementation of the mechanisms, standards and procedures necessary to protect the child in sports authorities in accordance with the applicable legislation, and to protect children participating in sports activities from every behavior, behavior or work that violates the rights of the child and harms his interest, and is harmful to him according to what is stipulated in the federal law, and includes ill -treatment, neglect and violence, and emphasizing that all sports professionals and workers in sports agencies and who have actual communication with them Children who are under their supervision, including service suppliers, bus drivers, guards and volunteers, are charged with reporting cases of child abuse, neglect or violence against children in sports authorities, and identifying the roles and responsibilities of sports agencies, sports professionals, volunteers, parents and child care to respond to cases of ill -treatment, neglect or violence against children.

The department pointed out that the goals also include, ensuring that all sports authorities are responsible for caring for and protecting children participating in sports activities and coordinating procedures to protect them, enhancing their well -being and safety when exercising, developing legal frameworks to prevent and exclude any person who poses a threat to children participating in sports activities, enhancing partnerships associated with child protection, in addition to coordination with the competent authorities and concerned authorities To ensure the protection of the rights of all children participating in sports activities in the sporting parties or events.

She emphasized that the new policy is based on four main principles, including: the best interest of the child and the right to participate, and not tolerate the child’s ill -treatment, responsibility, protection and non -revenge, stressing that the safety of children and the achievement of their best interests is the primary, priority and preference in all the circumstances and measures that are taken to protect them and their well -being, whatever the interests of the other parties, to ensure these risks reduce and not Tolerance with child abuse, and the protection of all those charged with reporting and they are not disabled or punished because of their implementation of their responsibilities in reporting cases of child abuse, neglecting or violence against them.

Policy

The Community Development Department in Abu Dhabi affirmed that the policy of protecting children in sports authorities applies within the geographical scope of the emirate on the sports authorities – with the exception of sports ties and federations – and the children’s protection coordinators and sports professionals in sports authorities, and other workers who have actual contact with children and are under the supervision of those bodies, including services suppliers, bus drivers, and security personnel, and the policy also applies to volunteers who work with children in activities Sports in an optional basis in the sports authorities, or by participating with it or in sports events, in addition to parents and those in charge of the child.
