"Khan Academy"Free digital education paves the way for a more comprehensive future

Sharjah, September 10 / WAM / Sal Khan, CEO and founder of Khan’s non -profit educational academy, emphasized that free digital education represents an unprecedented opportunity to expand the scope of high -quality education to reach every student in the world, stressing that artificial intelligence will constitute an essential assistance tool in enhancing and allocating educational experience in proportion to the needs of each learner.
“The Emirate of Sharjah is a prominent educational center, and my basic message from my presence here is that global high -quality education can become accessible to every student around the world, expressing his hope for inspiring decision makers in the world to be part of this task,” Khan told Emirates News Agency, “WAM”, on the sidelines of his participation in the International Forum for Governmental Communication in Sharjah.
He added that the challenges and opportunities facing the educational system in the Emirates are very similar to what we see in the rest of the world, explaining that providing free digital education tools for every student, teacher and guardian is a basis for the advancement of education.
He said, “Our goal is to allow students to learn at the pace that suits them, starting from pre -school to university, and that we provide teachers tools to follow the progress of students, and even governments to monitor performance in the actual time, which has proven successful in many studies.”
It touched on the mechanism of financing the academy, whose annual budget reaches about $ 100 million, saying, “The Khan Academy is a non -profit organization, and our financing comes from senior donors such as” Bill Gates “and other major institutions, along with hundreds of thousands of individuals who donate small amounts annually.”
He added, “We usually receive support from charitable bodies or major companies in the countries that we start working with to finance our activities locally.”
On the role of artificial intelligence in developing education, he explained that technology is not an end in itself, but rather a way to enhance allocated learning, pointing out that the challenge is how to help the student who faces difficulty in deepening more, and how to support those who advance quickly to continue his progress, and here comes the role of artificial intelligence that can approach what the private teacher does.
He pointed out that students through the platform can see lessons and exercise and benefit from the capabilities of artificial intelligence to follow up their progress, while teachers can use it to design lessons plans and correct papers, which gives them more time and effort to direct human interaction with their students.
Regarding his vision of the future of education during the next decade, he explained that the speed of technological development makes it difficult to predict, but he expected major changes in teaching and evaluation methods.
He added, “Schools have already started adapting to students’ use of artificial intelligence in writing duties, which will push them to enhance active learning methods within the classes. In contrast, artificial intelligence will help teachers perform administrative tasks and develop new evaluation tools to measure skills such as creativity, communication, and even humor, which are basic aspects of practical life but are currently not measured.”
He stressed that the future holds great opportunities to expand the scope of education to become more comprehensive and fair, saying, “We can imagine a world in which artificial intelligence evaluates the student’s skills in communication or his ability to be creative, and gives him a feedback that helps him grow, and perhaps one day these skills become official criteria in the CV.”
