8987 husbands benefited from “genetic examination before marriage”

The Emirates Genome Council revealed the contribution of the comprehensive genetic test for those coming to marriage, since it entered into force at the state level, on January 1, under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, and in cooperation with the regulatory authorities and strategic partners, in providing support for 8987 pairs, based on accurate tests that included 570 genes linked to more than 840 genetic sickness For couples whose results have shown possible risk factors, with the aim of helping them to evaluate options and make deliberate decisions in the field of family planning.

In detail, the Emirates Genome Council announced the launch of a series of workshops entitled “The Emirati Genome Dialogue”, with the aim of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the regulatory authorities in the health care sector and strategic partners, to focus on priority genome programs, which contribute effectively to reducing genetic and chronic diseases, and supports the personal health care agenda in the country, in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of the national genome strategy.

The first workshop hosted by the Dubai Health Corporation on the campus of Mohammed Bin Rashid University for Medicine and Health Sciences in Dubai highlighted the comprehensive genetic test program for those coming to marriage, where the successes and challenges related to the implementation of the program were discussed, in addition to the prospects for its development and the improvement of the quality of genetic examination services in the country, with a focus on the positive impact on public health and pre -emptive protection.

The UAE Council for Genome is enhancing the initiatives of careful medicine, preventive care, and improving and enhancing healthy age, by using genetic data effectively in upgrading public health outcomes in the UAE, which contributes to raising the efficiency of the health care system, stimulating cognitive and economic growth in this vital sector, and establishing the state’s position as an advanced global center in precise medicine.

The program aims to collect and analyze a million genetic samples of citizens throughout the country, and works to coordinate and cooperate with the various Emirati medical and research entities and institutions to achieve the national vision in building an advanced system for the health care sector.

The genetic examination programs, in addition to the comprehensive examination of those coming to marriage, include the genetic examination program for newborns, and aims to early detection of genetic disorders that can be remedies in infants, through the evaluation of 733 genes linked to more than 800 genetic cases, and the additional genetic examination program for adults participating in the Emirati genome program, with the aim of identifying genetic cases that can Diagnosing and dealing with it early, by evaluating 94 genes linked to more than 50 genetic cases.

Genetic examination programs also include fertility programs, including the evaluation of 186 gene associated with more than 130 genetic cases, the provision of treatment solutions and personal medical recommendations for couples, in addition to the cardiovascular examination program, which provides accurate genetic diagnosis and allocated treatments, and supports prevention and early detection, through the evaluation of more than 800 genes linked to more than 100 genetic cases.

It is worth noting that the “Emirati Genome Dialogue” initiative comes within the framework of the national strategy of the genome, which aims to develop an integrated organizational system to support the development and implementation of genome programs, in a way that contributes to a qualitative shift in the health care sector, and improving public health and the quality of society’s life in the UAE.

National genome strategy

The Emirates Genome Council emphasized that the Emirati genome program is one of the main national projects within the national genome strategy, as it contributes to a qualitative shift in the state’s health care services, by providing high -quality genetic data, helping researchers, doctors and scientists to identify genetic pathogens, understand the nature of genetic mutations, and predict the genetic preparation of some diseases, and developing effective personal health care plans for the Emirati community.
