The General Assembly adopts a decision that approves the New York Declaration regarding the settlement of the question of Palestine and the two -state solution

The decision expressed the deep gratitude of the General Assembly of France and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their responsibilities as the two presidents participating in the high -level international conference to settle the question of Palestine by peaceful means and implement the two -state solution, and to establish them, in conjunction with the heads of the working teams and based on consultations with all the participating countries, in formulating the New York Declaration.

Jerome Bonavo, the permanent representative of France to the United Nations, presented the draft resolution before voting on behalf of his country, Saudi Arabia and the countries sponsoring the draft decision.

Bonavo said: “This declaration sets a single road map to achieve a two -state solution, thanks to the main obligations made by the Palestinian Authority and the Arab countries for peace and security for all in the region.”.

He stressed that this road map includes an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages, the establishment of a viable and sovereign Palestinian state, the removal of Hamas and its exclusion from rule in Gaza, the normalization between Israel and the Arab countries, and the implementation of guarantees of collective security.

The permanent representative of Israel to the United Nations, Ambassador Danny Danone, said that “Acknowledging the so -called advertisement is not a serious attempt to make peace”.

He described the announcement as a “hollow gesture” that weakens the credibility of the General Assembly, he said, adding that the only beneficiary of it is the Hamas movement.

Danone said: “This absurd political maneuver is taking place while innocent people are blindfolded in Gaza tunnels, starving and torturing”Adding that in the meantime, many members of this association are fanatic of their eyes of their own free will. He pointed out that by supporting this announcement, members of the General Assembly choose to ignore the truth.

He stressed that his country will not allow Hamas to win this general assembly what it could not achieve on October 7, 2023.

What came in the New York Declaration?

The announcement includes agreement on joint action to end the war in Gaza and reach a just and peaceful and permanent settlement of the Israeli -Palestinian conflict based on the effective application of the two -state solution, and to build a better future for Palestinians, Israelis and all the peoples of the region.

He renewed the condemnation of all attacks from any party against civilians, including all terrorism, random attacks and all attacks against civilian notables, provocative actions, incitement and destruction.

The announcement indicated that taking hostages is prohibited under international law. He emphasized the rejection of any actions that lead to regional (land) or demographic changes, including forced displacement of Palestinian civilians, which is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

He condemned the attacks by Hamas against civilians on October 7. He also condemned the attacks by Israel against civilians in Gaza, the civil infrastructure, the siege and starvation, which led to a devastating humanitarian catastrophe and a protection crisis.

The advertisement said that war, occupation, terrorism and forced displacement cannot lead to peace or security and that the political solution is the only one to achieve this.

He added that ending the Israeli -Palestinian conflict and the application of the two -state solution are the only way to meet the legitimate aspirations – according to international law – for both the Israelis and the Palestinians and the best way to end violence in all its forms and any shameful role for stability from non -states, and ending terrorism and violence in all forms, and ensuring the security of the two peoples, the sovereignty of the two countries, peace, prosperity and regional integration for the sake of the interests of all the peoples of the region.

Officials and delegates pledged to announce the taking of concrete steps with a time frame and cannot be retracted for the peaceful settlement of the issue of Palestine and the application of the two -state solution, and the embodiment of – as soon as possible through concrete work – the independent democratic state of Palestine capable of continuing economically, which lives alongside Israel so that regional integration and mutual recognition.
