Matar Al Tayer, General Manager, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, stressed that the authority’s expansion in implementing pedestrian bridges comes as a translation of the directives of the wise leadership to raise the level of traffic safety and provide a safe and sustainable environment for all road users, and to turn Dubai to a friendly city of pedestrians and bicycle, and enhance the quality of life in the city to achieve happiness for the residents and visitors of the city In the future, a network of paths linking the residential areas in the Emirate of Dubai to the main attractions, to encourage the residents of the emirate to use sustainable individual transportation in the first and last mile trips, indicating that the number of bridges and tunnels of pedestrians increased from 26 bridges in 2006, to 177 bridges, at the end of 2024, with an increase of 581%, and according to the plan the authority will implement 23 infantry bridges until 2030, and their implementation will be Based on accurate field studies, the population density, and the achievement of integration between land uses, tourist and economic attractions, and mass transportation stations, with the aim of enhancing the smooth flow of traffic, and facilitating the movement of road users from pedestrians and bicycle, on the streets safely.

The Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors stressed that the authority’s efforts to enhance traffic safety and integrate infrastructure contributed to reducing infantry deaths and accidents, from 9.5 deaths per 100,000 population in 2007, to 0.3 deaths in 2024, with a decrease of 97%, and its efforts contributed to developing infantry infrastructure, to the high rate of pedestrian satisfaction in the Emirate of Dubai to 88%, and increasing the number of pedestrians from 307 million flights in 2023 to 326 million trips in 2024, with an increase of 6%, in addition to increasing the number of bicycle trips from 44 million trips in 2023, to 46.6 million trips in 2024, an increase of 5%.

The pedestrian bridge and bicycles on Sheikh Zayed Road is 528 meters, while the length of the bridge, which crosses Al -Khail Street, is 501 meters, and each bridge is five meters wide, of which three meters per path of bicycles and electric silences, and a pedestrian.
The third bridge is located on Al -Manara Street in the creative Al -Quoz area, and provides a smooth flow of pedestrians and bikes in the area and the surrounding attractions, and its design was taken into account in addition to aesthetic touches, consistent with the design identity and aesthetic character of the facilities and components of the region, the bridge is 45 meters long, its width is 5.5 meters, and its height is 6 meters of asphalt, and includes the implementation of two slopes on the sides of the bridge, 210 meters long for each slope.
Two big bridges
The fourth and fifth bridge, expected to be opened before the end of this year, is one of the large bridges designated for pedestrians and bicycles, and they are simply the design, and the fourth bridge is located on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, at its intersection with Tunis Street – Al -Nahda, and connects the first Muhsna area and the Al -Tawar area, and from there to the beach of Al -Mamzar, and it is 554 meters long, 5.6 meters wide, and a height of 12.5 meters from a level Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, while the fifth bridge is located on the Dubai -Al Ain Road, and connects the fourth Wadi Al -Safa area (Liwan) and the Nad Hessa area (Dubai Silicon Oasis), and the length of the bridge is 730 meters and its width is 5.6 meters, and its height is 7.8 meters by the Dubai -Al Ain Road, while the sixth infantry bridge is being implemented within the project of developing the future street, and it is located on the Sukuk Street, and is characterized by its design, It is consistent with the urban fabric in the central business area in the Emirate of Dubai, and the bridge is 44 meters long and 4.6 meters wide and 6.5 meters high. The bridge includes electric elevators, staff and a room for electromechanical systems, and the bridge is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
9 bridges
The authority intends to start implementing 9 additional bridges until the end of 2028, and the plan includes the implementation of a pedestrian bridge near the Coca -Cola Arena, a bridge in the Business Gulf region, and a third bridge on Sheikh Zayed Road near the Burj Khalifa area, and the plan also includes the implementation of six bridges on Al -Asayel Street.
