Mohammed bin Rashid: It gives a speech marking the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations Organization

Dubai, September 19/ WAM/ His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God preserve him, delivered a recorded speech marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations Organization.
His Highness said, “Today we stand at a historic moment, with the passage of eighty years since the establishment of the United Nations, but today we are facing complex global challenges, which confirm the urgent need more than ever, to revive the principles and values ​​stipulated in the United Nations Charter, to ensure its continued role in establishing peace and security.”
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum added, “Since its foundation, the UAE has taken a fixed foreign policy based on dialogue and understanding, and is based on the values ​​of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, support for sustainable development in all fields.” His Highness continued, “The UAE continues its role in providing humanitarian aid, combating terrorism, and addressing hate speech and extremism.”
His Highness stressed that “the United Nations was born eight decades ago to be an umbrella that preserves the human right to peace, justice and dignity. Today, its duty remains to renew its era with humanity, because its survival is alive and effective is the hope of humanity in the next eighty years.”
It is noteworthy that the UAE joined the United Nations Organization in 1971 in conjunction with the establishment of the state, and occupied a seat in the UN Security Council in the period 1986-1987, and also won a seat for the second time, for the period 2022-2023, during the elections that took place in June 2021.
The United Nations Organization was established in 1945, after the Second World War, with the aim of preventing conflicts, preserving international peace and security, promoting sustainable development, protecting human rights and providing humanitarian assistance, and its headquarters is located in New York, and it represents all 193 member states, and works through their charter that defines its principles and common goals.
