Volunteers "Emirates experts" They participate in a surgical program for the Smile Operation Foundation in Morocco

Nador – Morocco on September 19 / WAM / A delegation of the volunteers of the Emirates Experts Program participated in a surgical program that spanned a full week, organized by the Smile Operation – Morocco in coordination with the UAE Smile Operation Foundation, in the city of Nador in the Kingdom of Morocco.

Emirati volunteers worked alongside an international team specialized to provide support for children who benefit from free care to treat cracked lip and crushed palate, in a live embodiment of the spirit of giving and solidarity that characterizes the Emirati community.

The medical mission was held from 12 to 19 September, to register the first participation of the Emirates Experts Program in supporting a program organized by the smile process.

Mohamed Al -Qubaisi, a member of the Programs Committee in the Emirates Experts Program, along with seven members of the program in this task, participated, as they took over as medical volunteer roles that included registration, instructing patients during the examinations, providing moral support to the families, in addition to visiting the children’s pavilion in the hospital and providing moral support to them.

The participation of the program was coordinated by the Emirati Smile Operation Foundation, while the Moroccan Smile Operation Foundation organized and implementing the surgical program.

The multidisciplinary medical team included participants from the various centers of the smile operation network around the world, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, dentists and pronunciation and language specialists, including volunteers from Brazil and Canada.

Three medical volunteers from the UAE also participated in pivotal roles represented in: clinical coordinator, post -operations nurse and medical record official.

“This cooperation embodies the UAE’s humanitarian approach, and by working hand in hand with the partners, we can bring sponsorship services closer to societies, so that more patients get the comprehensive care they deserve to treat cracked lip and crushed thorn.”

For his part, Mohamed Al Qubaisi stressed the importance of this experience for members of the Emirates Experts Program, saying, “We gave us volunteer work in Nador an opportunity to link our experts to the actual needs of societies, and highlight the role of multilateral cooperation in changing people’s lives for the better.”

The task was supported by the strategic partner of the Emirates Experts program, Mubadala Investment Company, “Mubadala”, and came in line with the initiatives “The Year of Society” in the UAE.

The volunteers expressed their happiness to participate in this medical task, which provided specialized surgeries for children with a lip and crushed thorn.

It should be noted that the Smile Operation Foundation, which was established in 1982, is a global non -profit organization specialized in lip lipstick and crushed throat and providing comprehensive care associated with it, and it works in partnership with local health care systems to train medical personnel and expand surgical services in limited resources, and with about five billion people around the world lack the ability to access safe and affordable surgery, cost, The Foundation and its partners focus on closing care services to patients ’homes by treating obstacles such as distance distance, infrastructure and lack of medical personnel.

In the same context, the UAE Smile Operation Foundation was established in 2011, and began to provide surgeries in 2017, and since then it carried out 16 surgical programs inside the country, through which it has provided free and safe surgeries to more than 230 patients.

It also contributed to financing surgical programs in Honduras, Ghana, Morocco, Ethiopia, Egypt, Madagascar, Malawi, Jordan and the Philippines, contributing to drawing more than 4000 new smiles.
