Dubai, September 21 / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, the work of the fourth session of the Dubai World Self -Driving Conference and Defense will be launched next Wednesday, which is held at the Dubai World Trade Center, under the slogan “Re -definition of transportation … the path towards self -movement”.

The event will witness the honor of the challenge winners, which are held under the slogan “Dubai Self -Driving District”, where five alliances, global and local institutions and leading companies competed in the embodiment of a model area, including multiple and integrated transportation in one region, and allowed the residents of that region to choose the means of transportation or movement that suit them, and provide good service to them, with the aim of designing a global model for cities, in the field of self -driving movement.
His Excellency Matar Al -Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, stressed that organizing the conference and challenge is an important step in the Dubai march towards leading the future of smart movement, and consolidating its position as a global destination for innovation in this vital sector.
His Excellency said that the organization of this global event comes as an embodiment of the vision of the wise leadership in making Dubai the smartest city globally, and to enhance the sustainability of the movement of mobility in a way that achieves happiness for society, as it comes within the framework of the efforts of the Roads and Transport Authority in supporting the Dubai Self -Driving Strategy, aimed at converting 25% of the total transport trips in Dubai, to self -driving trips, by 2030.

He pointed out that the authority aims, through the conference and challenge, to attract international companies, universities and research institutions specialized in the field of self -driving movement, to find innovative solutions that support Dubai’s efforts to shift towards future transportation systems, based on advanced technologies, reducing the cost of employment, enhancing traffic safety levels, reviewing the latest innovations and exchanging experiences and knowledge, between industry, experts and decision makers.
The conference, which will be held over two days, attracts more than 3000 international participants, and witnesses the holding of more than 45 workshops and a symposium, and the conference will host more than 80 speakers from senior officials, researchers, experts concerned and developers of modern technologies in the field of self -driving, and among the most prominent major speakers at the conference, His Excellency Saeed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority “Dua”, and Mrs. Soul Rashidi The world’s first artificial intelligence executive, former head of technology specialized in North America, and you will be the main speaker in the opening session.

The fourth session of the Dubai World Self -Driving Challenge, which was held under the slogan “Dubai Self -Driving District”, witnessed a wide participation of local and international companies and institutions, where requests for participation in the challenge exceeded the target number by 170%, and five alliances and local and international companies qualified, to compete for the final stage, namely: (Weride / Deutsche Bahn) alliance from China and Germany, (Brightdrive / alplab / Shiptec / Seabubbles alliance from Switzerland, France, Emirates, Austria, and alliance (OCAUBOTOT / Pikmoving / Heriot-Watt University Dubai from the Emirates, China and alliance (SURAA / Arti) from Austria, addition To the fifth candidate, the leading company (Zelos Technology), from Singapore and China, and the last period witnessed field tests, in the headquarters of the qualified companies in its countries, according to the criteria and procedures approved in this regard, and the names of the winners will be made, while honoring them on the first day of the Dubai World Conference and Challenge for Self -Driving.
