New York, September 26/ WAM/ The Parliamentary Division Group of the Federal National Council of the International Parliamentary Union, headed by His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al -Nuaimi, President of the group, participated in the parliamentary meeting organized by the International Parliamentary Union, on the sidelines of the eighties of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.
The delegation of the Emirati Parliamentary Division Group includes His Excellency Sarah Mohamed Flunaz, Vice President of the Group, Ahmed Hashem Khoury, Dr. Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi, and Mira Sultan Al Suwaidi, members of the Federal National Council.
His Excellency Dr. Al -Nuaimi, in a speech to the Emirati Parliamentary Division during the participation, stressed that the world is witnessing unprecedented transformations that are manifested in the escalation of international crises and the increase in armed conflicts, and the consequent direct effects on the most fragile groups, foremost of which are women, indicating that the experiences have proven that women are the first victims in any conflict or humanitarian crisis, which calls for a double responsibility for parliaments to develop. Practical initiatives and mechanisms to provide support, care and empowerment to overcome the effects of conflicts.

Flondaz reviewed the UAE’s approach in the areas of women’s empowerment, and submitted a number of proposals based on the Emirati model in empowering women, as it called for the development of an international gender equality certificate granted to parliaments and delegations that achieve a continuous balanced representation, and the establishment of a global network of guidance linking young parliamentarians and diplomats with experienced women leaders.
For her part, Mira Al -Suwaidi, during her participation in the session “Partnerships for Equality – Creating a new momentum for Begin’s vision”, stressed that the passage of thirty years at the Beijing Conference puts the international community in front of a fundamental question, will gender equality be merely a fragile ambition, or will it become a firm and irreversible basis in the global system, stressing the importance of partnerships that bring together governments, parliaments, civil society and the private sector in live coalitions Not symbolic alliances.
Al -Suwaidi reviewed the experience of the UAE in consolidating women’s gains by integrating equality in the structure of institutions, and submitted several proposals to enhance the global momentum of Begin’s vision, among them the conclusion of global charters of equality that set measuring goals that are reviewed annually, and the launch of future laboratories led by young people of both sexes to design innovative solutions in the areas of artificial intelligence, climate and peacebuilding, in addition to Acknowledging the transformational partnerships that contribute to expanding the scope of best practices at the international level.
