The Knesset Committee passes the “prison sentences” bill with the first reading

In a first reading, the National Security Committee of the Israeli Knesset voted, on Monday, in favor of passing a draft law that allows the execution of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, called the “death penalty law for terrorists”.

The “Times of Israel” newspaper said that the committee referred the committee the bill to vote at the plenary session, in a controversial move within the political and legal circles in Israel.

She explained that “despite the approval, the legal advisor to the committee, Ado Bin Yishaq, warned that the vote that took place during the Knesset holiday may be illegal,” noting that “the absence of representatives from the security services and the absence of a fundamental debate about the details of the law.”

In the discussions, Gal Hirsch, responsible for the hostage file of the Israeli Prime Minister, expressed his concern that the approval of the law may harm the detainees in the Gaza Strip and make efforts to liberate them.

The draft law obtained the approval of the committee with four votes in exchange for opposing only one vote.

The law, which was proposed by the party of “Autasma Yehudet”, Limour Sun Har Moniche, had previously rejected the opposition of the ruling coalition, and the fears that it may harm the efforts to release the kidnappers.
