Adoption of the first international standard proposal to protect cultural heritage globally

BEIJING, September 29/ WAM/ China announced yesterday the adoption of the first international record proposal in the field of world cultural heritage protection entitled “Protecting Cultural Heritage, Earthquake Prevention for Cultural Archeology in Museums, Principles and Public Requirements.”
This came during the first annual meeting of the Technical Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of the International Standard Unification Organization held in the Chinese capital, Beijing; To highlight the size of global interest in protecting cultural heritage, especially to counter the risks of earthquakes.
“During recent years, according to a work arrangement from the Chinese National Cultural Heritage Authority, projects to prevent earthquakes have been applied for nearly 20 thousand cultural artifacts in more than 20 museums in several areas exposed to earthquakes in southwest and northwest of China.
He pointed to the success of 1245 cultural artifacts in three museums in the regions mentioned in the 6.2 -degree earthquake -facing earthquake tests without any piece of them being damaged, which proves reliability and provides earthquake prevention technology in China, stressing that seismic prevention of cultural heritage is of increasing attention in the world.
It is noteworthy that the establishment of the Technical Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of the International Organization for Standardization has been approved by the Technical Council of the International Organization for Standardization in March 2024, and the committee is currently hosting 32 countries of participation and 16 countries monitored, while its secretariat is in the Imperial Palace Museum in Beijing.
