Abu Dhabi, September 29 / WAM / The National Pavilion of the UAE in the Venice Biennials announced the appointment of Bana Qattan as an artistic value for the participation of the next country in the sixty -first session of the International Art Fair – Venice Biennial for the year 2026.
Qattan was chosen by a committee that includes prominent figures from the creative sector in the Emirates, including government representatives, museums, and universities.
Bana Qattan contributed to the continuous development of the Emirati artistic scene, as she is currently taking over the position of artistic value, assisting the head of the exhibition department at the Goghnheim Abu Dhabi Museum, and she was born and raised in the UAE, and worked as an artistic values ​​in the art gallery at New York University Abu Dhabi, which gave her deep and wide knowledge in the arts and museums sector in the country, and during her work she conducted intense field research, intense field research She worked with Emirati artists, which strengthened her understanding of the local artistic scene.
His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Culture, said that the Ministry of Culture seeks to enhance the presence of cultural and creative talents in the UAE on the global scene, and therefore, we are pleased to welcome Bana Qatan as an artistic valuable for the national pavilion in the arts of the arts 2026, noting that its valuable experience and its rooted relationship with the state will enable it to provide technical visions that receive wide acceptance at the local and international levels.

He added that this exhibition is a new confirmation of the UAE’s position as a distinguished center to support creativity and enhance global cultural dialogue.
For its part, Bana Qattan expressed her happiness with her appointment as an artistic valuable for the national pavilion of the UAE in the arts of the Arts 2026, after her intense work in the region and with a wide range of multi -generations and specialties from the Middle East and the Arab world, looking forward to providing her experience for a project that embodies the ancient and vibrant artistic scene in the UAE, as well as contributing to broader technical dialogues The state’s position is enhanced on the international scene. “
For her part, Angela Majali, Executive Director of the Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation, said, as the official commissioner of the national pavilion of the UAE, said that the institution is committed to sponsoring ideas, people and practices that contribute to shaping our common future, and its work is based on supporting the arenas and cultural systems that allow practitioners to grow, cooperation and contribute to the creative scene of the state.

She added that the appointment of Bana Qattan as a commission on the pavilion reflects this commitment, and the Foundation’s belief in the importance of arts in promoting dialogue and building bridges of communication between societies.
For her part, Laila bin Brik, director of the National Pavilion of the UAE, said that the career of the Qattan career was closely related to the UAE, starting from her early work with a position of artistic values ​​in the art gallery at New York University Abu Dhabi, to its leadership role in the Goghnheim Abu Dhabi Museum.

She explained that the appointment of Bana Qattan highlights the primary goal of the wing, which is to shed light on the irrigated stories by combining various artistic views that embody the unique mixture of cultural history and social diversity in the UAE.
It is worth noting that Bana Qattan had held an artistic value of artistic value in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, where she supervised exhibitions of artists of multiple generations, including Wafaa Bilal “2025”, Mary Tuwa “2024”, and Mona Hatoum “2023”, as she supervised the art gallery at New York University Abu Dhabi on a research exhibition program on research.
The national pavilion of the UAE will participate in the sixty -first session of the Venice Biennial of the Arts 2026, which is held under the slogan “In Secondary Keys” by the artist Quo Koh, from May 9 to November 22, 2026 “with a special opening on 6, 7 and 8 May.

This participation represents the fifteenth exhibition of the state in the international exhibitions of the arts and architecture, and its ninth participation in the International Arts Exhibition, and the title of the UAE’s participation will be announced for the year 2026 later as well as a special release of the exhibition.
As for the current exhibition of the UAE in the nineteenth session of the International Architecture Fair in Venice, it is entitled “On a Fire”, which was evaluated by Ezza Abu Alam, and highlights the advanced relationship between architecture and food production in the UAE, and proposes innovative solutions to produce more sustainable food at the individual and societal levels, and the exhibition continues to receive visitors until November 23.
The national pavilion of the UAE was established with the commission of Salama Bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and with the support of the Ministry of Culture and has a permanent wing in Arsenal in the Biennial of Venice – Seal Darmi.
