Reasons for postponing the duo of Dhafer El Abidine and Nadine Njeim… for the second time

Despite the official promo showing, there is a lot of talk in artistic circles about postponing the showing of the series “Potential”, which stars two stars: Dhafer El Abidine and Nadine Njeim, especially since the promotional video for the work did not specify a fixed date for the start of its showing.

If these speculations are true, the duo that many have been waiting for between Nadine Njeim and Dhafer El Abidine, which was scheduled to be part of the 2026 Ramadan season, may be delayed for a longer period.

After announcing the series’ exit from the Ramadan race, the final decision came to postpone its showing for the second time, given the current circumstances that the Arab region is going through, which directly affected the progress of production and filming. Filming has been temporarily halted, and thus the decision was made to postpone the presentation of the work until next September as an initial date, which adds more waiting for fans of dramas.

The dramatic work, which was rumored to be in the format of the international film “Pretty Woman,” by Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, in terms of the basic plot, was recently subjected to a dramatic treatment of a number of lines, to ensure the production of an elaborate and integrated work, as well as to present a drama that is consistent with the culture of the Arab viewer, through a different presentation that avoids direct copying, which contributed to the delay in its presentation.

The two heroes of the work, each individually, have demonstrated a remarkable presence through previous successful dramatic works, which has placed this duo under intense anticipation from the audience. This prompted the staff to conduct more revisions, with the aim of producing the work in a way that satisfies the fan base and presents a mixture of romance and exciting drama.

In a related context, Nadine Njeim had confirmed her return to the screen through this series, which constituted her first work after a period of hiatus, as her last work was a series that was shown in 2024, and was a continuation of the events of the “2020” series, which achieved great success when it was shown during the Ramadan 2020 season. After the series ended, Nadine Njeim announced her decision to stop, temporarily, from participating in dramatic works during the Ramadan 2025 season, out of her desire. In devoting herself to launching her own brand, which reflects her keenness to diversify her interests between art and entrepreneurship.

As for the star Dhafer El Abidine, his career shows great diversity between Arab and international cinema and drama, in addition to presenting programs, which makes him one of the most prominent Tunisian and Arab artists who were able to impose their presence on the international artistic scene.

He joined Ramadan dramas in the 2013 Ramadan season, where he played the role of “Raafat” in the series “Friendly Fire,” with: Menna Shalabi and Amr Youssef. Then he continued to appear in various series, such as: “Time Difference” in 2014, “Under Control,” “I Want a Man,” and “24 Carat” in 2015.

Since 2017, Al-Abidin’s works have varied between drama and cinema. He appeared in: “Caramel,” “The Sweetness of the World,” “Eugenie Nights,” and “The Bride of Beirut,” from 2019, until the third part of it in 2021, in addition to cinematic works, such as: “Tomorrow,” “The Spider,” “A Nose and Three Eyes,” and “To My Son,” while continuing to appear as a guest of honor in some Series, such as: “The Journey to Search for Ola,” Part Two, in 2024.
