The UAE participates in the work of the second regular session of the Council of Arab Cyber Security Ministers in Riyadh

The Cyber Security Council of the UAE government participated in the work of the second regular session of the Council of Arab Cyber Security Ministers in Riyadh, which was launched today under the presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Governor of the National Authority for Cyber Security, Engineer Majid bin Mohammed Al -Mazy.
The work of the session, heads of the bodies concerned with cybersecurity in the Arab countries, the assistant secretary -general, head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States, Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al -Maliki, and the Secretary -General of the Council, Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al -Freih.
Within its agenda, the Council discussed a number of issues of common concern between Arab countries from them; Approving the Arab Cyber Security Strategy draft, agreeing to join the Council of Arab Cyber Security Ministers to the United Nations Convention against Cyber Crime, and the council joining the membership of the most prominent international organizations and entities.
A group of working papers presented by member states of the League of Arab States were reviewed, in a way that contributes to achieving the strategic goals of the council based on enhancing Arab cooperation and solidarity in the field of cybersecurity.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint Arab action in the field of cybersecurity, and to raise the level of readiness in the region to confront the emerging threats, in light of the accelerated cyber threats and their effects on security in all its dimensions and forms, especially the economic and social influences resulting from the increasing cyber threats.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al -Kuwaiti, head of the cybersecurity of the UAE government, stressed that the UAE’s participation in this important meeting comes as an affirmation of its policies supporting all types of cooperation and coordination in the security and cyber fields at regional and international levels, indicating that this participation expresses the sincere desire of the Emirates to advance the calf of joint Arab action in this vital field, stressing that cyber security has become a major part of the defense strategies necessary to protect Arab societies And its capabilities.
He added: What we are currently witnessing from accelerating developments and transformations on various geopolitical, economic, developmental and technical developments, all of which puts us in front of a reality that emphasizes the importance of security in defending joint Arab security and protecting the economies and capabilities Arab countries and all countries of the region.
The head of the council’s second regular session opened with a speech in which he affirmed that the world’s witnesses today at several levels; Including geopolitical, economic, and development, and technical developments, puts cybersecurity at the heart of the strategic priorities of Arab countries; Conservation of its common Arab security, protection of its economies, and to preserve the interests of its vital homelands; To a safe and reliable Arab cyber space.
For his part, the Assistant Secretary -General, Head of Economic Affairs at the League of Arab States, stressed that the weak spending on the field of development of cybersecurity in the Arab region is one of the most important challenges, especially in light of the development of electronic attacks at a faster pace than ever, adding that electronic attacks have increased significantly during the past two years due to the instability and wars witnessed by our Arab region.
The Secretary -General of the Council of Arab Cyber Security Security stressed the keenness of the General Secretariat of the Council to enhance cooperation and integration between the Arab countries in this promising vital sector, especially in light of the exact and sensitive time in which the world witnesses many challenges and threats related to the field of cybersecurity.
