Artificial intelligence saves a patient who stops her heart because of a sharp clot

A patient of Fujairah Hospital, affiliated with the Emirates Health Services Corporation, left five days after her full recovery, despite her exposure to a lengthy heart that exceeded 30 minutes, thanks to an advanced medical intervention supported by artificial intelligence techniques, enabled the medical team to quickly diagnose the full blockage in the right artery, and cultivate a heart attack according to accurate measurements that restored blood flow to the heart.

The head of the hospital’s heart department, Dr. Thaer Khazim, stated that artificial intelligence played a pivotal role in saving the situation, through a precise camera across the cardiac catheterization that showed the location of the blockage accurately, which allowed doctors to intervene quickly and the success of the process without complications, indicating that this experience confirms that the integration of artificial intelligence into cardiac procedures is no longer an option, but rather it has become a necessity to save lives.

This came in the first forum for artificial intelligence, organized by the Fujairah Hospital, affiliated with the Emirates Health Services Corporation, under the slogan “We can mind the minds and rise to society”, in the presence of a group of doctors and specialists, where the most prominent applied experiences of smart technologies in the health sector were reviewed, in a move that reflects the Foundation’s commitment to enhance the presence of artificial intelligence in the health system, in line with the state’s directions to accelerate the adoption of this Technologies, and prepare a generation of competencies capable of looking at the future and developing more efficient and innovative services.

Khazim added that artificial intelligence techniques have caused a qualitative shift in the diagnosis, as the accuracy of the hearts of the doctors, as well as being able to predict the risks and formulate accurate treatment plans, reinforces the opportunities to save patients in critical cases.

For its part, the interventional radiology consultant for the breast head of the radiology and nuclear medicine department in the hospital, Dr. Asma Khamas, explained that the integration of artificial intelligence into health care systems has become a strategic step to improve the quality and efficiency of services, noting that «advanced algorithms in the analysis of medical images raised the accuracy and speed Medical and radiology.

She added that the Fujairah Hospital approved a road map to adopt artificial intelligence techniques, represented in the application of early detection of breast cancer, which started since 2020, where the resolution of the results increased from 85% to 98%, and the diagnostic period decreased from 14 days to five days, while reducing the summons after the examination from 10 to 4% and early detection was 125 cases of breast cancer in its first stage during the past year.

Khamas stated that in the year 2021, early detection of lung and tuberculosis diseases began, through preventive medicine centers through artificial intelligence, which raised the resolution of the results to 99% and reduced the diagnostic period from 72 hours to less than 10 hours, and contributed to isolating the injured and preventing the spread of infection, with the diagnosis of 2294 cases last year, and techniques were introduced to detect fractures and osteoporosis in 2024 and 2025, As “silent” diseases that are difficult to discover before the fracture.

The forum included specialized lectures and an open dialogue session, which dealt with important topics, such as the role of artificial intelligence in developing the methods of treating heart disease, moral and legislative frameworks of artificial intelligence applications in the public sector, and its growing uses in the field of diagnostic radiology, and discussions also touched on ways to enable young competencies to keep pace with the requirements of the future, and an exhibition was also organized on the margin of the forum to review the most prominent experiences And digital projects in the health care sector and other fields.

For his part, the Director of the Fujairah Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Al -Khedim, affirmed that the organization of the Artificial Intelligence Forum comes in the context of the national trend towards implementing the Emirates AI strategy 2031, which has established smart technologies as a pillar of sustainable development, adding: “Our goal is to continue the march in establishing a smart environment that makes data and knowledge tools to make accurate decisions, and opens the way for national competencies to design advanced solutions that contribute to improving The patient’s experience and enhance the quality of the life of community members. ”

The Organization for the Forum of Artificial Intelligence reflects the keenness of the Emirates Health Services Corporation to launch cognitive platforms that open new horizons for integration between the concerned authorities and raise the competitiveness of the health sector, by enhancing the exchange of experiences and formulating practical solutions that support the bureaucratic definition efforts, in a way that contributes to the consolidation of the UAE’s position at the forefront of countries seeking to employ future technologies to serve human and society.
