The comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the UAE and Malaysia enters into force

Abu Dhabi on October 1 / WAM / The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and Malaysia entered the formal effect today, which represents a qualitative shift in commercial and investment relations between the two countries.
The agreement, which signed in January 2025, provides an effective platform for enhancing economic cooperation in various sectors of common concern.
The agreement is expected to double the volume of non -oil bilateral trade, which amounted to $ 5.5 billion in 2024, as the two sides set a goal to increase non -oil trade to $ 13.5 billion by 2032, while bilateral trade continued during the first half of 2025 its prosperity to $ 3.3 billion, an annual increase of 30.9%.
On the other hand, the agreement will enhance economic relations between the UAE and Malaysia by canceling or reducing customs duties, improving customs procedures, and enhancing cooperation in the private sector.
His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al -Zyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, said that the entry of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the UAE and Malaysia is an implementation of the implementation of the strategic relations between the two friendly countries, which paves the way for more integration and joint growth.
He explained that the agreement is only a commercial relations, but also will also open new investment prospects in major sectors, such as health care, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and logistical services.
The comprehensive economic partnership agreement is the first trade agreement between Malaysia and a country from the Gulf Cooperation Council states, and it represents an important step in strengthening economic relations with the Arab world.
In addition to simplifying trade procedures and increasing opportunities for services exports to markets, the agreement also includes a chapter for the Islamic economy, and aims to enhance sustainable development, transfer technology and cooperation in the private sector, which establishes economic relations between the two countries.
The comprehensive economic partnership program is an essential part of the foreign trade strategy of the UAE, as it aims to reach the value of the total trade to 4 trillion dirhams by 2031, and aims to double the size of the economy to exceed 800 billion dollars by the same year.
Since its launch in September 2021, the program succeeded in completing agreements with 31 countries, which contributed to strengthening trade relations and enabling Emirati companies to reach markets that include a quarter of the world’s population.
