The Court of Appeal acquits Marouf Blogger and cancels the prison sentence and fine in the offensive content case

The well-known Egyptian blogger “Umm Mecca” revealed the details of her obtaining an acquittal in the case related to her being accused of publishing clips that were described as “indecent” and contrary to public morals, confirming that she is essentially a “seller of immorality” and has nothing to do with the attempts of some content makers to stir up controversy in search of fame.
She explained in media statements that the first-degree ruling had given her a suspended imprisonment of 6 months, in addition to a fine amounting to 100,000 pounds, noting that the conviction was based on one famous video compiled by the blogger “Umm Sajda,” which included an exchange of obscene language toward another woman.
She added that she absorbed the experience well, and pledged not to engage again in any content that included abuse or insults, whatever the motives, stressing that she would return to focusing only on her primary activity of promoting “Fesikh” salted fish food across social media platforms.
In the judicial context, the Economic Misdemeanor Appeals Court issued today, Tuesday, its decision to accept her appeal and acquit her, which led to the cancellation of the previous prison sentence, along with the return of the amount of 50 thousand pounds that she had paid from the fine.
The court of first instance had previously convicted her on charges related to publishing visual content via “Tik Tok” that contained phrases and suggestions that were considered a violation of family values and public morals, in addition to charges related to money laundering resulting from her activity on digital platforms.
During the course of the investigation, “Umm Makkah” denied all the charges against her, stressing that the content she provides aims only to entertain and attract views. (Arm News)
