"The economic forum between Sharjah and France" Looking to enhance investment partnerships

Sharjah on October 1/ WAM/ The Department of Governmental Relations in Sharjah organized today, in cooperation with the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the UAE, “The Economic Forum between Sharjah and France” at the headquarters of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the wide participation of representatives of the government and private sectors from both sides with the aim of enhancing economic cooperation and attracting more French companies to expand their business and investments in Sharjah.
The forum was attended by Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi, head of the Government Relations Department, His Excellency Jean -Christophe Barry, the Consul General of the French Republic in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and His Excellency Jeffroy Bontel, President of the French Chamber of Commerce in the Emirates.
The representatives of a number of governmental institutions and authorities in Sharjah, including Sheikh Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Government Relations Department, His Excellency Sultan Muhammad bin Huwaiden Al -Ketbi, Head of the Municipal Affairs Department in Sharjah, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of the Municipal Affairs Department in Sharjah, His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al -Awadi, Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sharjah, His Excellency Ahmed Obaid Al -Qusayr, Executive Director of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Sharq) Mohamed Gomaa Al -Mashrakh, Executive Director of the Sharjah Foreign Investment Office (Invest in Sharjah).
The forum witnessed sessions devoted to acquaintance and building relations and a series of bilateral meetings (B2B) between representatives of French companies and their counterparts from the business community in Sharjah, and the investment opportunities available in various sectors were discussed.
In his opening speech, Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi stressed the depth of historical relations and the established commercial partnership between the UAE and France, explaining that the growth indicators in the Emirate of Sharjah and the increasing activity in various sectors reflect the rise of Sharjah as an integrated center for trade.
Sheikh Fahim Al Qasimi said that the population of Sharjah in the next population of the population may reach about two million people, which reflects the accelerated growth witnessed by the emirate and makes it a major destination for business, families and global markets, and this in turn represents a great opportunity to enhance investments and expand business in them and employ the strategic Sharjah site to reach the world markets.
He stressed the privacy of partnership with France, stressing that it is based on a common ambition towards innovation and sustainable growth, and that this forum constitutes an ideal platform for translating historical friendship ties into fruitful cooperation and joint prosperity that extends for future decades.
In turn, His Excellency Jean -Christophe Barry affirmed the depth of historical ties between Sharjah and France and the future horizons it carries, and he said that Sharjah is dear to us and the relationships that they bring together in France as long as they were firm and strong and today we start from this solid basis to build ambitious partnerships in vital sectors such as renewable energy and artificial intelligence and this forum is clear evidence of our joint commitment to enhance economic cooperation and exchange Cultural.
For his part, His Excellency Jeffroy Bontel pointed out the importance of the forum is a platform for exploring new opportunities for cooperation and expanding the network of relations between the French business community and its counterpart in Sharjah, stressing that the presence of more than 600 French companies in the UAE constitutes a solid base for further growth and Sharjah represents a strategic and vital opportunity for our companies and we are here to encourage members to expand their business and investments in the emirate benefiting from our joint commitment to innovation and trade And exchange of knowledge in this important market.
Within the activities of the forum, the Sharjah Foreign Investment Office (Invest in Sharjah) presented an integrated offer during which he reviewed the most important economic indicators of the emirate, where the GDP recorded more than 39 billion dollars, while the business community in Sharjah includes more than 67 thousand registered companies, which reflects its position is an ideal destination for investment and business practicing.
The presentation highlighted the strength of commercial agreements that the emirate enjoys within the comprehensive economic partnerships program (CEPA) for the UAE, which provides strategic advantages that include reducing customs duties, simplifying procedures and expanding access to markets to open to investors and international companies, exceptional prospects for growth and expansion.
